I saw my brother playing MW2 a couple of days ago, it came up with stacked multi-coloured text saying the lobby had been hacked from a French source, seems that the developers aren't even trying to keep on top of it now. When I was active on MW2 before Black Ops I never saw a lobby like this, and around 5 hacked lobbies in total with speed boosters, god mode etc.

That article really doesn't go into detail about what the threat is though, I mean are people sending personal information like idiots or is it getting jacked somehow?

None of my credit card info is available through my account so I'm not worried any serious problems occurring but still I avoid boosting lobbies and gay shit like that. Sketchy stuff IMO.
That's to do with the game servers (IW clowns) not Xbox, MW2 is hacked to shit now, and very easy to do. It's the same reason they happen through IE or Microsoft systems more than Apple, target audience and familiarity. Black Ops on the other hand, I've never seen a hacked lobby...

I've also, personally, never seen Xbox Live hacked.
I've seen people using cheats in MW2 but never something that popped up on my screen like this. My main problem with MW2 is people taking advantage of glitches and cheap little tricks already in the game that infinityward should be releasing patches to prevent.

Someone hacked me on FIFA11 once too but otherwise I've never had problems.

Sony Hints at Compensation for PlayStation Network Hack

By Martyn Williams, IDG News Apr 29, 2011 1:20 pm

Sony may offer users some form of compensation for the outage, now in its 8th day, of the PlayStation Network and Qriocity online services, its U.S. unit said late Thursday.

The two networks were taken offline by the company after it discovered they had been hacked. Sony subsequently said personal information on some of its 77 million registered account holders had been stolen. It also said credit card numbers could have been stolen, but an ongoing investigation had uncovered no evidence of that so far.

On Thursday, in the latest of a series of postings to its PlayStation Blog, the company said compensation is being considered.

"We are currently evaluating ways to show appreciation for your extraordinary patience as we work to get these services back online," it said.

The PlayStation Network is offered at no charge to users, so the compensation, if it comes, is not likely to be monetary. A subset of users do subscribe to the PlayStation Plus service, which offers access to beta versions of games and other perks for an annual fee.

The blog posting also said subscribers to Sony Online Entertainment's MMO (massively multi-player online) games "DC Universe Online" and "Free Realms" would also see something from the company.

"To thank players for their patience, we will be hosting special events across our game portfolio," the blog said. "We are also working on a 'make good' plan for players of the PS3 versions of DC Universe Online and Free Realms."

The latest blog posting didn't provide any updates as to the status of the PlayStation Network, the Qriocity service for consumer electronics devices, or an ongoing investigation into the hack.

It did say gamer trophies and game data files storied on Sony's servers will be available once the service is back online.

It would be cool if we got a free game download.

My PS3 is broke, it doesn't read any kind of discs. :sigh:
I have the same problem.. The laser is probably the problem. First it was whenever I put FIFA11 disc in ps3 it says error at launch couldn't read the disc.. I had to put another disc in (usually CoD:BO) and play at least 1 full online game. Then the laser somehow works again and I can play FIFA again.

A month later, whenever I put a disc in my ps3, I don't even get an error anymore, no disc picture, ps3 doesn't make any sound nothing... laser totally dead. Last time I had to try for 45 minutes before my PS3 eventually could read a disc.. after that I just never turned off my ps3 and it's been on for over 2 weeks now even with PSN down. :p

Unlucky mate. Mine doesn't read anything, anything at all it's like it does't realize that I insert a disc into it.

I know what you mean, I have the same problem now.. I know for sure it's the laser because I can download demos from PSN and play them with no problems. You probably have the same problem too and it's probably dust in the PS3 that messes up the laser, I used vacuum cleaner on it but not sure how to clean it from the inside..
