backwards compatible means that you can play your PS2 games on it as well. the 40gb doesn't have that functionality.
i feel ya buddy. the reason why you can't find any 80gb consoles is because sony wanted to get rid of all of them so they created the MGS4 bundle which came with the 80gb. since that promotion was born to be short lived due to limited quantities they migrated it to include the 40gb as well.
so if you do find an 80gb anywhere, my recommendation is that you buy it or send me the link so that i can cop it

I reached there finally, I said: "Do you sell any PS3's?", and the girl said: "Yes we do, did you want the 40gb or 80gb" In that moment it was best delight/ecstacy/orgasmic feeling all in one, and yeah Dru it was the MGS4 bundel. I haven't even opened that game, its all about GTA4 baby!!!!
