He might of been picked but
considering the amount of talented strikers in Spain
and Considering he was doing the bench in Barcelona
While Tristan was wipping in Goals for Depor
Morientes was being the jack in the box for Real
and Raul was being world class his WC chances were fairly limited.
If he would of had a good run in 2000 however his bench time in Barcelona would not have effected his pickinh for the NT.
If Raul would be doing as much bench as Alfonso
then I don't think he would of been picked either.....

Mitar Mrkela - Red Star Belgrade player, Late 80's. His style of play provoked interest of almost all giants of football. Flare, creativity, speed, vision. Everything was there, except for guts.
