Andrea Pirlo is still looking for his first goal in black and white colours and thought he had been presented with the ideal opportunity in the final stages of this evening’s game against Parma. But just as the midfielder was preparing to pull the trigger, Santacroce’s challenge brought him to the ground.
The 32-year-old explained: “I shielded the ball and I felt a knee in my back. I thought it was a clear penalty, but it wasn’t given. We’re not playing the victims and we don’t want presents from anyone. Equality, however, is what we’re after and we ask that when it’s a penalty, it’s awarded - even if it is in the last minute.”
Despite not gaining all three points, Juventus put in an encouraging performance at a difficult venue, and went close on several occasions to breaking the deadlock.
“The problem is that we create many opportunities and we don’t score,” stated Pirlo. “We dominated this evening, but Pavarini did well to keep us at bay. We’ll look to improve further, to get back to winning ways instantly.”
