The Nikon Coolpix 995. Here's the 26 page review that convinced me it's good stuff if you want to have a look: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp995/

The pics were taken at 2000*1500 jpg fine quality, that's about 1mb a piece (they're only about 40-80kb now). To save space I compressed them to not so great quality and 600 pixel max resolution to so they actually look much better.
Martin, which ones did u shortlist. Im thinking of going in for one myself. But as of now i have the Sony p72, top of the list.
Was that on ur list as well before u made up your mind?

I bought a Sony Cybershot DSC-P10 last summer. Great digital camera (5 Mega pixels) for a pretty much affordable price (e550). Memory sticks cost an awful lot in Belgium though...

Yeah that is something anyone in the market for a camera should consider. The most used memory for now is compact flash, it's the cheapest and comes in sizes up to 1gb with IBM microdrive. If you choose a camera that requires proprietary memory then you're locked in what that manufacturer unfortunately.

Ahh I completely missed this thread :wallbang:

I looove taking photos and videos. I've taken about 15000 shots on my Sony p71 since i got it a year ago :lick:

I might be going for a new Canon sometime soon, as my current cam's a bit clunky to carry around now

I was trying out some macro photography (taking a photo a few centimetres from the subject). This is the result. I've reduced the size of the photos & combined them for ease of attaching here.
