Making me miss good wagashi too. What do you make of Tokyo? I kind of half a love/hate relationship with it, it's so big, but somehow feels better in some ways in other big (but smaller) cities.
We stayed at Arakawa & Nakano City and loved both. The only thing that reminded us of the gigantic size of Tokyo was the commute times. Although well connected by the metro it was still crazy how far from Shinjuku/Shibuya it was. This was well compensated by how the local izakaya's felt so homely and cozy. So many small and intimate gems making it feel like your local joint.
Osaka was chill & felt really relaxing after Tokyo. Amazing city. Food was exceptional and the ambience was really welcoming.
Okinawa was quite interesting but Naha felt like the US while the north was the complete opposite. Visited Ogimi village and it was really charming. I actually saw the Okinawa Rail. The drive in the north was absolutely fantastic.
All in all I really enjoyed my time in Japan and would love to do a Sapporo trip in the future.
