How come?

- - - Updated - - -

What's your setup @Dostoevsky
Canon 4000d and kit lense 18-55mm. Cheapest option lol. I bought one lense on my own, canon 50mm 1.8, also a cheapie. But I mostly use kit lense for landscape. I shoot manual and only raw.

I'm seeing disadvantages on this one. I would switch if I had money but that's gonna wait. I still think great shots can be tsken even with cheap stuff.

This pretty much. Literally any camera from the big brands you can buy these days will be good enough to produce great results with it, if you know what you are doing.

@Nzoric I just can't stand them alright :p
Of course their glass is good, but I can't stand the company and their lens design.

Is it because of their east german legacy?

So here are some topics

1) how often do you guys go out shooting?
2) what's your fav lens you use?
3) when you have zero motivation do you force yourself out or you just wait for some inspiration to come
4) what do like to shoot/which weather

4) what do like to shoot/which weather
1) More often now, cause snow and winter make for interesting pictures. Maybe every 2nd day now.
2) 25 and 50mm for landscape and general use. Some 135mm vintage lenses for portraits.
3) Can't and shouldn't force it.
4) Bad weather over sunny days. IMO rain and storms, or now snow, are much more interesting than your average beautiful sunrise you get to see left and right. Used to be a good weather photographer, but over time figured it's kinda boring.

Hm. How's weather (rain/snow) affecting camera? Iirc only L series from canon, which are insanely expensive, allow minus weather and rain. I was scared to go out when it was shitty weather but I might be misinformed. Do share knowledge.

Interesting that you use 50mm for landscape. I'll give it a go more often.

Do you like/do street photography?

And one more question. For winter days and snowy/windy days which gloves do you opt for? Please don't tell me none. Like 2 months ago when I went out it was like 0 degrees but wind was crazy, I had none and I literally thought my hand and fingers would fall off. That was crazy pain as I had my hands out for 2 hours and I was even next to the river.

I too was WAY too careful with my cameras.

Truth is, cold temperatures and slight snow and/or rain aren't gonna do anyhing to your camera, L-Series/weatherproof or not. Just don't completely soak them in water and they'll be just fine.

As for gloves, I wear nothing special. Just some pretty thin ones, so that I can still operate the dials and everything. But very often I catch myself putting them off anyway, because it just isn't the same and you still a bit clumsy with them. Just get used to frozen fingers :p

Yeah, kinda scared to break the shit and get nothing out of it. When you say camera you mean lens too? Or just body.

I personally find rain and fog best weather for shots. I rarely went out, though, due to the reasons mentioned lol.

When it rains, I put some tape over the hot shoe and the microphone and a thick micro fiber cloth in my bag, and that's about it. Them dslr bodies are pretty durable. A bit of snow/rain ain't gonna melt them away.

I mean lens too. I don't go out when it's raining shit lol, but mild rain or snow are no problem.

Great to know, though. Thanks

    1) very rarely nowadays
    2) 35mm or some similar prime (i like my current 35mm because it's weather resistant and gives me some confidence not mindig the weather at all)
    3) i rarely force anything with hobbies, but some say it's a good method. practice never hurts
    4) any weather with the family around :p not a fan of direct sunlight though

I heard many times that forcing is actually great. Even in writing. I personally hardly ever push myself into it because I feel huge energy drain if I'm not into it personally.

Will check the vid  cheers.

The one thing that I do mind and I do hate is the greed of my wishes. Same goes with my obsession for books, perfumes, movies, photography, etc. I always want more, even when it's not needed. In this case I'd really like new stuff, new body, lens, new everything. Even when I bought 50mm I was like "oh what's next in the line". I'm aware it's not really needed. I'm aware I could easily use shitty body and starting kit lens, plus what I have, and drain it for 2 years. But I always feel I'm missing pieces for not having X lens with myself, I feel I miss a lot of quality due to weak sensor, no eye focus, and there's always something "missing".

Im out every second week ish. Rarely go out alone, usually witj I take pictures at home almost every day. Has the plus side of annoying my girlfriend.

I have the sony kit lens and a 55-210 which the guy gave me when I bought the camera. I only use my kit lens, the 55-210 range doesnt suit anything I want to catch. Boarderline hate the lens. Might sell it to buy a tamron 17-70mm if I make it a year of shooting without abandoning it.

I only take pictures if I feel like it.
