Reports: Sensi to lose Roma? Saturday 3 July, 2010
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are reports that within 48 hours the Sensi family will hand Roma over to the Unicredit bank to settle their €300m debts.
On Monday there will be a meeting that could well resolve the two-year tussle over financing for the Giallorossi.
It is actually an issue between Italpetroli – owned by the Sensi family and the majority shareholder in AS Roma – and Unicredit.
The Serie A club is simply one of the assets of Italpetroli and it’s possible that on Monday Unicredit will repossess Roma.
It would mean the departure of President Rosella Sensi, but the directors would remain until a new buyer can be found.
Obviously this scenario would completely revolutionise the Giallorossi’s summer transfer campaign and lead into the new season with great uncertainty.
Sensi could try to continue the legal battle until the end of July, but the Corriere dello Sport newspaper is confident the matter will come to a head on Monday.
