Pessotto in possible suicide bid

Gianluca Pessotto, the new general manager of Juventus, has been rushed to hospital after falling from a window at the club's headquarters. The 35-year-old former Juventus player fell from the top floor of the building and landed between two parked cars.

He has sustained multiple fractures, but is still conscious and not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

Reports say Pessotto threw himself off the balcony on the second floor while holding a rosary in his hands. Police are investigating it as a possible suicide attempt.

Pessotto fell 10 metres into an internal courtyard, hitting two parked cars before landing on the ground.

Fabio Cannavaro, a former team-mate of Pessotto's at Juventus, left an Italy press conference in Germany after being told of the incident.

Juventus chief press officer Marco Girotto said to www.gazzetta.it: "We don't know how this has happened. We'll see.

"Gianluca reportedly has multiple fractures but they are not life threatening

Coboli Gigli (Juve president), Bettega, Rampulla and Gai arrived at the hospital.

It seems that the fall was from the roof (15 meters high), and that he was only saved because of two cars parked below. One of which was Bettega's.

That pretty much confirms it was an accident. Who would commit suicide by jumping on a car?

Meanwhile, the whole Nazionali is under the shock. Gianluca attended the Czech game in Hamburg a few days ago, and is very close to Lippi and several players, as he once was an Azzurri himself.

Cannavaro: " I'm shocked, Pessottino is the bravest man in this world".

Materazzi: "He's a friend, I hope he gets well soon, without sequel..."

Marcelo Lippi also seemed chocked. The Azzurri are not celebrating the qualification today.

The building is only 2 or 3 floors high.

Gazzetta published the official medical bulletin of 16:20:

_____________

It says the spine is ok, but he has internal bleedings.
