Calls For Nedved Return Grow Louder

With the prospect of Tomas Rosicky recovering in time for Euro 2008 looking increasingly bleak, the calls for Czech legend Pavel Nedved to come out of international retirement have intensified in his home country over recent weeks.

Even before Rosicky suffered serious damage to his knee earlier this month, Nedved had been dropping hints that he was considering returning to the international stage for one final swansong this summer. Now, there is all the more reason for him to make what would be an immensely popular comeback, but the Juventus veteran is remaining tight-lipped on the matter.

Marek Bílek of Czech daily "Sport" summed up the concerns and hopes of his country when he wrote: "It could be that Rosicky will not be there at the European Championships, the chances are getting slimmer and slimmer that he will start. Nobody knows exactly what injury he has, but he has missed more than two months already, a long break, and the chances of playing are therefore getting smaller. The logical step would be a call from Karel Brückner to Pavel Nedved, and as such the chances of Nedved playing are increasing all the time with Rosicky's continued absence."

Last night I was rolling into an inter forums....they were celebration when Nedved got injured and that he's in a hospital.

Fucking retards.
Sadly sometimes I feel that their players outclass their fans

BTW for some reason when you wrote that you were in the inter forums, I immediately imagined one walking through the monkey section at the zoo with chimps, apes and baboons going wild as you pass through

Chelsea's Cech leads calls for Nedved's return

PRAGUE (AFP)
Chelsea's Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech is pictured with his new headgear during their Premier League match against Wigan at Stamford Bridge, in west London, on April 14. Cech has called for Pavel Nedved to reverse his decision to quit national service and help the Czech Republic at Euro 2008.

Chelsea keeper Petr Cech called Thursday for Pavel Nedved to reverse his decision to quit national service and help the Czech Republic at Euro 2008.

The Juventus midfielder, with 18 goals from 91 caps to his name, called time on his international career after the 2006 World Cup.

But pressure has mounted for the 2003 European Footballer of the Year to return to the national fold.

Cech told the Dnes newspaper: "Pavel is part of the team, he's always made an important contribution to it. We're in real need of a player with such experience and blessed with such skills."

"His presence at the Euro would naturally be welcome, that's obvious," noted Nuremberg's Czech striker Jan Koller.

Czech defender Radoslav Kovac said Nedved was "in excellent form at the moment and would surely enjoy an excellent Euro".

Calls for Nedved to figure at Euro 2008 have grown following the longterm injury suffered by Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky.

Since his international debut in 1994 Nedved has taken part in three European championships, helping his country to the final in 1996 and semi-finals in 2004.

The Czech Republic start their Group A campaign against co-hosts Switzerland on June 7, with next up Portugal on June 11 and Turkey four days later.

1 - Yes, he is a key player for our CL/Scudetto challenge!
2 - No, he is too old and should be replaced by Giovinco or someone else.

personally, as much as he has done for this club and calcio, i feel that he should be replaced because with every passing year he is getting older and less effective. unlike camo and del piero, nedved's impact is not a much or as crucial as it was 2-3 years ago.

its gonna happen one day,we might as well accept it now and fix it before it costs us on the european stage.

He definitely should continue and mentor Giovinco to become his successor. I think someone with Neddy's expierience will be invaluable, especially if we plan the return of our youngsters.
