Long story short, my son has really taken to playing football and I found out that CR7 is from Madeira, some of my family moved from Madeira to Hawaii over 100 years ago which is pretty cool as it is a small island not unlike the one that we are from. For this reason along with his obvious skill, my son and I became Ronaldo fans. We watched him win his 3rd consecutive CL crown last year and then watched him in the World Cup and then for Juve. Obviously being this far from Europe we don't have a "home team" so we followed CR7 to Juve and as I've posted in the Felix thread, it'd be cool if he signed with Juve so that we could follow his career as Ronaldo's eventually ends and we could become lifelong Juve fans.

I'll also add on that Football has never been a huge sport here in the US and until I started to see the level of skill, dedication and hard work that players have to put into the sport I did not have the respect for it that I do now. So I try to learn what I can to teach my son about the sport on off days from his club team and I am in turn becoming a fan of the sport.

I really didn't knew about that story of immigration to Hawaii... it seems that it was a thing...

You asked, not my fault that you don't like the answer.

Many immigrants from Portugal came through Hawaii and then went on to live in California as well. The Portuguese have had a big influence in recent Hawaii history, the ukulele was a Portuguese guitar that fell into the ocean and shrank for instance. Linguica, sweet bread, Portuguese bean soup, malasada's, etc. are enjoyed by many, etc.

New Juve fans always welcome, whether it’s because of one player or the whole team. Many of us started initially supporting because of one player and later loved the club as a whole.

Ignore lion, he’s always like this.

Welcome to Tuz, Hawaii Juve Fan

I’m warning you now that this place is very hard on newcomers, it will take a few months before you are accepted as “one of the boys”.

But once you are, there isn’t another forum as fun as this one.

Thanks! I follow NHL hockey the closest of all sports and my team has missed the playoffs for 12 of the last 13 seasons, so when I become attached to a team I do not jump ship at the first signs of trouble, far from it. I understand that some fans do not care for "bandwagon fans" or fans of a single player, etc. but I've never been one to try and please everyone by sugar coating things.

There are no right or wrongs here. For example, @Kyle joined for lawn mower and the kit guy. There is no shame in that.

It's amazing that you didn't read it, yet you magically know that it had some of my family back ground in it. You are a talented man.

Thanks, I've been reading the forum awhile before I joined and this place has a lot of very cool and knowledgeable posters.

Edmonton Oilers.

I'm a bit of a strange bird, my favorite sport growing up was basketball. Now I am mostly into Hockey and Football, needless to say I don't get to talk to too many people here about either sport at its highest level.

There are fairly active NBA and NFL threads here.

I'm a Habs fan, but enjoy seeing the Canadian teams (aside from the Leafs) do well. Hopefully the Oilers figure out how to surround McDavid with a proper team soon. It'd be a shame to waste him.

No you're right. I very much want to get to know the CR7 tourist.
And I'd very much like to get to know you if you look like Elvin's avatar.

Nice. You guys had a solid season last year, Domi really took his game to a new level. Price is a class act, I have a ton of respect for that guy.

Yeah, hopefully with the addition of Holland and the deletion of MacT, things are finally looking up.

Seeing as I am happily married, I just made the previous post in jest. That said, if I was single and it is a female (I'm not even sure who some of the avatars are), why not? With your personality, who could turn it down?

I wouldn’t touch the girl in @Post Ironic ‘s avatar with a 10 foot pole

Disgusting eyebrows
Get her a tweezers for a gift. :klin:
