I thought those strikes against young Boys were going to pull Paulo out of this scoring malaise. This is a man who can create a goal with only a half chance. Now it seems like he needs 2-3 great chances before he converts one.

What???? Lemina was always hovering around a 5/10 performance. Matuidi covers a lot of space which helps Pjanic and can also pop up with a good goal. This team is noticeably worse when Matuidi does not play.

While Matuidi has been performing at a higher level than Pjanic this season, Pjanic’s best is obviously superior.

The bigger question is whether Pjanic can consistently perform at his best.The only time we really saw him do so here was in the last 4 months of 16-17 when his fantastic form was a large part of our domestic double and CL run to the final.

If he doesn’t get there, we’re always going to face a struggle against teams with top midfields.
