Is Dybala's petulance becoming a problem for Juventus?
For the second time in a fortnight, Juventus star Paulo Dybala reacted angrily to being substituted on Tuesday evening and this time, the club might have no choice but to take action against him.
The 23-year-old was caught on camera uttering a vulgar phrase in the direction of Bianconeri boss Max Allegri when he was hooked during last month’s 6-2 win away at Udinese.
And according to various Italian media outlets, the Argentine forward threw his shin-pads in the direction of the bench when he was taken off in the 82nd minute of Juve’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Sporting Lisbon this week.
No action was taken against him following the Udinese incident but the club might perhaps be wise to make it clear they will not tolerate the manager’s authority being undermined in this way.
Indeed, former Juventus boss Antonio Conte recently made it clear to his Chelsea players that they would face punishment for public acts of dissent towards him.
And speaking after the Udinese game, former Italy international defender Giuseppe Bergomi urged Dybala to take a leaf out of Napoli captain Marek Hamšík’s book.
“Dybala should look at Hamšík,” Bergomi told Sky Calcio Club.
“He is always subbed off and never says anything. You can’t act like this, he has to learn.
“It is normal for the coach to take you off sometimes since he might want to change the dynamic.”
