I'm not sure if you're serious, or just being sarcastic.

That would be stupid from our side , why would we renew him ? He is already on 7.5m and has 4 years left , and no needs for clause, we can ask for 170m (Yes we won't) .
I'm dead serious.

Imo A clause is only stupid if it is too low and/or if you are a top 3 club that has no intention to sell it's top players, which we aren't. We always sell if the money is right.

My point is forget all the Beppe talk, we will sell Dybala anyway, so why not just install a clause? Just make sure the clause is high enough to make a club think twice before activating it. €170m would fit the bill. We'd never get that much without a clause, yet still a top team that really want's him would be able to pay that sum.

How does a 170m release clause prevent us from selling him for 100m?

I want more than that and more than a couple of tweets.
You're right. But I guess Juve higher ups will be gun-shy about promoting 1 person as the face of the club. Don't really get the Del Piero's and Totti's anymore.

Especially if clubs (read: Barca) have come knocking for him already.

It happens to be that in Italy the last two players that were promoted as such were Del Piero and Totti but other clubs outside Italy do it quite a lot and it brings revenue. What I am trying to see is that we should ignore traditions and accept the fact that he might leave just make him stay longer than this summer or next summer, make him important that he would want to stay at least five more seasons.
