IMO they were aware of the Neymar sale for quite a while. You're gonna see a lot of new signings this month and my guess is that we wouldn't be able to sign any of them.
And I don't think Khedira, De Sciglio, D.Costa, Bernardeschi or even Higuain would ever play for them (Pipita is on that level, but he wouldn't suit them). I think they would only sign Sandro and Dybala from us.
You're right. It's history. Nobody looks at the history but current success. You're a guy, no? When you wanna hook up with some girl do you have standards of 16yo version of yourself, or current you? When you look at the job, do you look at your first $#@!ty job or tons of new experience?
I bet Neymar doesn't give a $#@! who played for PSG before Arabs bought them. Also, I don't think any player is seeing how we used to sign Nedved, Ibra, Buffon, Thuram and others. They see our current team and our current signings. Why would they care about the past? Sure, status and fame counts, but they don't count if you're not in that position anymore. My hometown club, Red Star, won the CL in the early 90s and now we're just $#@!.
My point being: lucky or not, both Spanish clubs have the two best players in the world. They hold the fame, marketing and money at the moment alongside with Bayern. Players dream about joining them. Sadly, they see Juve as a step forward in their career as we're a huge club, but it's not the last step in their career. That's why I see both Dybala and Sandro leaving in the future.
You know what I find sad? Our signings. While I don't have anything against them that my $#@! falls off, I think it's rather sad when you see how our moves did not change despite of us reaching the CL finals 2 times over the past three years. Just imagine... a club that reached CL finals... gets to sign D.Costa, Bernardeschi and De Sciglio. IMO those targets were possible even before being in this position.

But they have MSN. We don't. And players want to play alongside Messi and Suarez. Players WANT to replace Neymar and get his place. I can't say they wanna play next to Costa, Bernardeschi and Khedira. I don't think a WC player would be happy to replace Dybala and hold a presentation holding a jersey next to De Sciglio.

Bayern Munich will always have a special appeal, giant fanbase around the world and its history, but today football is dictated by the money. And like i mentioned PSG and PL clubs just have endless amounts of if
