It's almost sad in a way to see even players like Insigne stuck in their club for an entire career, let alone the likes of Totti. Romance and loyalty are part of it, internal pressure is the other thing. I don't imagine Insigne would ultimately turn down a theoretical move to Real Madrid like Totti did. I bet Totti has regrets.
I also don't think Insigne will stay at Napoli forever, he's not their captain, 24 is a shitty number, they don't respect his contract demands and he even isn't always undisputed starter, I'd bet that he'll eventually go somewhere else and blame it on the lack of respect from Napoli. Besides he might not be a good enough player to stay at Napoli's level in his last pro years.

Also Hamsik deserves to be captain, he's one of their top 5 players in history and also 3rd all-time in appearances.

For me its the opposite of sad, its a beautiful thing. The bandieras of their clubs become legends. Di Natale, Maldini, Del Piero, Zanetti, etc. For an outside like us it may seem strange, but they (the romans) were born and raised and played for their club.
Insigne would probably stay forever if ADL is not an asshole about his contracts. He already said that he is willing to renew for less money than he would get abroad, just to stay at Napoli. BUT! that he most also get a proper raise. I think Insigne only makes just over 1m.
The last 2 seasons Insigne has reached an incredible level and this season he became a leader in the team (just after Hamsik). If Napoli don't pay up he will have plenty of offers abroad.
