Prior to this game, the last 5 games he played he had 4 goals and 2-3 assists. I would say that's the opposite of worrisome performances. His 2017 has started off great.

btw dybala's recent performances left something to be desired, he could be a lot more clinical, and also he was our weakest link yesterday. sometimes his concentration seem to drop, his decision making is not as sharp as it's supposed to be. it might be down to his injury and relative lack of playtime, he's just a little rusty compared to his usual self. he's still the brightest talent we have, and i'm sure we can rely on him in the cl.

Season in general has been on and off for him. Its combination of everything really, semi long injury, new role, new attacking partner (besides few occasions, he has no natural link up with Higauin at all yet), virtually new midfield/system most of the time etc. So I agree with the decision making/passing at times that seems to take one risk too many at times. Right now whats off about him is I imagine its quite different for him to play the same way he does higher up. He likes to dribble alot and take risky 1-2 passes, but now he is receiving the ball smack middle of center field way more (especially when Khedira runs forward bit too much, he moved forward more often then Dybala and Mandzu at times), so doing those kinda attempts and failing stands out alot more in the viewers eyes when you doing it just 10-15 meters from CBs or such compared to trying to counter to the box.


I saw him get the ball twice yesterday from Bonucci, try to dribble 2-3 players around him (while most others in that positon side way pass to the flanks/back to CB), and lose the ball. With our pressure we retrieved the ball quickly enough. But even if he is super skill full and needs to break patterns, he probably needs to adjust his game a little to his newer further down role instead of improvised turnover happy style he tends to have. In one of those instances, Bonucci who passed him moved up to join the attack, if it was a better team then Sassuolo, we would gotten screwed hard with that turnover.


He is an intelligent player so he needs to get insynch bit more with his teammates (he has fantastic understanding with Pjanic, and I think Alves coming back would help him alot, same type of mindset, attempts tons of improvised interplay that not many of their teammates are ready for), he has been bit more sloppy then usual with his short passing at times and overdribbles on occasion, I bet it kinda frustrates him since he is a player who likes to commit alot of himself in every action.

Closer he is to the goal, the MUCH better he is, his intricate little dribbling mouse approach fits so much better when you just shy off the box, making whole defense nervous about you about to do. Then when you turn around with the ball just outside our half, turning around to dribble opponents less dangerous areas, with virtually all your teammates and whole opponent team infront of you.


He is creative enough to do this role, but he is essentially being sacrified for the teams sake it seems, since its where he is at most dangerous. He used to have freedom to drop back alot as CF too, but now this is his role. Now he occasionally gets into/around the box, and he misses the 1 or two chances he has because he is kind in cold/erratic streak. Used to shoot and work his way into scoring positions alot last season, especially when playing off Mandzu freed up so much space.

Yes when he played closer to the goal, every move seemed to result in a great scoring chance. He was so effectively goal-bound last season.

I feel like he's doing well but I guess I expected him to be a bit better. Maybe it's just that he's still far from top form and he tires out quicker due to that and new role. Comparing with Diego Costa behavior with Conte, Dybala’s case means nothing.i think benching him next game will be a good punishment, nothing more though.
