Dybala would be to say the least on par with Messi or even way more dominant than Salah atm if only he had a better, more offensively oriented coach here. ;)

Too bad that the management and Allegri fanboys don't see how obvious this is pfff

Neither Inter captain Mauro Icardi nor Juventus Paulo Dybala have been included in the squad, and it appears far from certain they’ll go to the World Cup.

“We thought Dybala was one of the top in the national team, but with the passage of time maybe he hasn’t been able to adapt to our ideas.

“He’s struggling to fit in. He generates a lot of points for his club as an anarchist footballer, and that’s made him a big name in world football.

“Either we didn’t understand where to use him or he couldn’t adapt to our ideas, which are totally different to his club.

“We have to evaluate whether there are those who are better than him, or if we have to strengthen Paulo.

“Icardi’s case is similar to Dybala’s. We understood that in talking about Icardi with the national team and Icardi with his club there are differences.

“He’s coming off scoring four goals, he shows what he is every Sunday and whenever we’re in Europe we’ll watch him but there isn’t much time to adapt.

“I’m not ruling him out, he’s a player who I’m proud is Argentine but we have to focus on relationships on the pitch to make the best choice.”

Gonzalo Higuain has been called, having previously been left out by Sampaoli…

“At the moment I think he’s boosted toward a World Cup that will show him for what he is, one of the best number 9s in the world.

“If he’s at this level, then Argentina has a lot of strength in attack.”

No Dubala at the World Cup is a positive thing; means less attention on him from the big spenders such as Real and PSG.
Or opposite: he won't be exposed as not world class, causing the big spenders to be disinterested.

He doesn't seem to fit playing alongside Messi (Argie coach said the same), and never impressed on NT duty as far as I recall

Dybala's price would go down if he played the WC for the NT. They would have to put him on the wing and he'd get subbed after 45 mins.

Would be shocked if he's not on the WC team.

These are friendlies, and probably left off because he was coming off an injury, and the Sampaoli wants him to focus on fitness and form. No sense over-taxing Dybala right now.

it's strange that Dybala cannot demonstrate his qualities with the NT, he handled the switch from CF at Palermo to SS at Juve to AM at Juve rather well in the last few years, not exactly the least flexible guy when it comes to adapting.

Icardi not going wouldn't be scandalous, because the guy is a nutjob and they already have Higuain and Aguero, but Paolo is their best young player and possibly their next leader after Messi retires (could very well happen after this WC), would be very strange to leave him home.

Well Dybala said it himself that he and messi play in the same way and in the same part of the pitch

Allegri also explained that playing CF at Palermo and playing SS at Juve , he still plays in the same part of the pitch cuz at Palermo the whole team is deeper

Sampaoli tried them together in one of the WCQ and it didnt work at all, Dybala barely got any touches

So, at best Dybala is Messi's sub...and Messi never gets subbed or injured

Dybala is possibly the best player in the world that is hard to fit into a team.
Him and Griezmann suffer in exactly the same way: they are traditional SS in a 2 man attack. Not really AMC's and not wingers either. You need to play 442 and most teams nowadays play with 3 midfielders in the CL.

The French NT has exactly the same problem as us, they need to play 4231 to accomodate Griezmann but they don't have the proper midfielders to play a 2-man mid.
