Marotta: 'Dybala-Juve for life'

Juventus are prepared to “make a big financial sacrifice” to keep Paulo Dybala for life, confirmed Beppe Marotta. “He asked to stay here.”

La Joya has been sensational so far this season, scoring 12 goals in 10 competitive games for Juve.

“The lad is priceless, because we are not a selling club,” director general Marotta told La Stampa newspaper.

“I always repeat that a player has his future in his hands and Paulo just said he wants to tie himself to our club for life.

“Translated, that means we will make another big financial sacrifice to keep him. We will soon lock him down to a new contract – it’s what he asked us for.”

The 23-year-old Argentina international has been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea.

His current contract runs to June 2022 and was only signed in April 2017.
Here is the interview.

I guess we didnt sell Pogba Vidal and Bonucci..
Anyway Im interested in knowing what he means by financial sacrifice.. Hope its a big contract and not a player going to get sold kind of sacrifice...
Anyway I really hope we improve on the wings and on the back as otherwise our team is weakened compared to last season...
Bonucci left and for now there is a hole..
D.Costa and Bernardeschi do not deserve to be starters for now..
Alves left so we are stuck with a third rate RB..
Well we sold Bonucci he was one of the top earners. So it makes sense plus we made a record profit this year according to our financial statement.

Not 2 months ago, it was 6 months ago. But when it wasn't signed isn't the point, but maintaining competitiveness salary wise (he looks at his peers elsewhere as do we) and keeping your superstar happy. It's what tends to happen when players reach a certain big profile.

This all good news, both player and club want to commit to each other deeper and maintain a long long term commitment.

Same thing. Six month is nothing. If he really wants to stay, then the club should wait at least until the end of this season to give him a new contract. There's no rush for it. Giving him a new contract after just six month make the club look desperate.

But that's the thing, we ARE desperate to keep him. We should be. Any top club that wants to keep building pays their best who hold very high levels alot to keep them content and not look elsewhere. That's way of this bussiness more and more now.

Pogba and Vidal essentially left because we weren't on that high competitive level salary wise. Dybala is more marquee franchise level talent so we need to make sure the same don't happen with him. It's not about how long the contract is but how much it's worth compared to rest in similar levels.

Mertens, Dybala get Ballon d’Or nod
By Football Italia staff

Dries Mertens, Paulo Dybala and Edin Dzeko are among the names nominated for the Ballon d’Or.

France Football magazine re-took control of the award last year, having previously partnered with FIFA, and Cristiano Ronaldo was given the trophy.

Today the 30-man shortlist for 2017 is being announced in a staggered fashion, with the final list to be completed at 18.15 UK time.

However, there are already three Serie A stars confirmed on the shortlist, in the shape of Paulo Dybala of Juventus, Napoli’s Dries Martens and Roma striker Edin Dzeko.

Dzeko was Capocannoniere in the Italian top flight last year, with Mertens just behind having been converted from a winger.

Dybala helped Juve to reach the Champions League final and win the domestic double, and he’s started this season with 10 goals in seven Serie A games.
