I love this kid and many here will recall I bet all my money on him when he was still at Palermo, I'm glad it paid off. He's star.

But it must be said he's soft as $#@!! And it's not because of his size or body build, he's just soft on the ball, he's thrown around like a rag doll quite easily.

It makes one wonder how hard it was for tiny players like Maradona and Romario to stay on their feet time and time again while receiving the toughest of treatments that Football had to offer. And the courage to confront reckless defenders who were twice their size. $#@!ing unreal.

Messi is another example but he doesn't get 10% of the violence those 2 had to deal with. So he has it easy compared to them.
100% disagree. I don't wanna go back till Maradona&Romario days, lets do compare against messi. He has 0 defensiva duty, never touch his own Box, ref avoid rivals even give him a bad look, almost never need to carry the ball since his own half cuz his teammates offer him options to pass. Dybala has to run like hell defending, he has to create since our own Box, ref don't give him any especial protection, has to carry the ball a lot cuz we have 0 creation plan.

Paulo gets a lot of hard fouls and fight a lot for the ball so he gets down a lot because of how we use him no cuz his soft. Messi in Conmebol don't have the same hyper special unique protection la Liga and Uefa ref have with him and Lio struggled a lot, that's why he gets so frustrated cuz he used to be treated like a little girl so please don't say Paulo is softer than Lio

First paragraph was total BS man, like complete.

And he is softer then Messi simply because Messi has very good balance to withstand defenders, and more importantly besides the insane skill, Messi has the very quick step and speed to leave the defenders behind and maintain it, where's with Dybala it's more just the first steps instead of longer stretch as Zach explained.

So Messi do defend? Messi go back? Messi didn't get special treatment (please watch Farca first goal against Valencia)?

Dybala didn't have to defend? He didn't go so back that have to run like 30 meter every time he recover a ball?

I didn't say Messi isn't crazy good but he has license to do It cuz if you wanna play hard and close to him, the ref starts to do his job. Lio against Atlético had so hard time cuz they play hard on him and switch the.reference every time the ref start to protect Lio. So if they forcé you to give him space, It would be easirr.for a guy like him to go pass over any defense. In Conmebol he couldn't do It cuz noone is so stupid to give space to messi at least the ref demand It. So again, paulo isn't softer than messi.

And like CR7 would say, Im sorry that you're all be so wrong aboit it

His mind wants audacious things, that heavy touch is his way of getting away but he needs to refine it

Him running into defenders, is a pace issue. Hear me out. Dybala can burst away and takes 2-3 players in 5 yards, problem is that his lasting pace is very slow, so he tends to tick the ball ahead of him far and far to much, running into defenders.

WHen he is on form, he does that remarcably less.
He was born talented enough and apparently has the skillset needed to leave players behind quite easily, why he doesn't is the question.

However you brought up a good point about the way he can't maintain a proper pace for long without having to tick the ball way ahead. I think @Osman has brought this up before and it does ring true. It's a bit worrying tbh, for if he can't find a way around this little problem , makes it hard for one to reach his full potential, doesn't it.

For me, its reason alone why he should never play wide. Cause you get nowhere with that issue. He should work on maintaining speed with ball in feet yea
