he played as a winger, and he was fouled as a winger before the 2nd penalty (which higuain missed)
Thats the right lineup and the wrong formation. As with everything under Allegri it was a bit blurred, but I'm pretty certain we played 4231 that game with Berna on the right, Mandzukic on the left and Costa as CAM. Doesnt matter much though as the game was below par and so was Costa in that position

one of these heatmaps belongs to that match. an other belongs to an other cl match when costa played a winger. could you tell which one is which?

i couldn't. only because he played as a winger on both occasions.

first one is juve-barca 0-0, second one is the spurs game.

Ramsey will take up Khedira's position, and DC will replace Khedira in the XI as a RW/RM.

His pace is vital on the flank in beating his marker and creating space and on the counter.

Would only work as AM during counters. Doesn't have the decision-making to play AM during times of longer possession and that also wouldn't make full use of his pace.

Thats the Allegri 4231 for you, past 16-17 Mandzukic wasnt much of a winger. But you can see that in the second Costa had more freedom to go all over the pitch. Still, thats a useless discussion, I think Costa is better suited to be hard pressing SS than CAM in the 4312

Even if we could, should we? That's pretty much all of our forwards playing at the same time, what would our bench look like?

Leave that problem to Sarri. So far he's rotating them very well. Also, he's never had so much luxury, let the old man enjoy it :p

I will be happy if he can get 20+ assists. Some goals from set piece will be great too fir his confidence.

His support for Ronaldo is spot on, he has that football intelligent, knows what kind of support to release CR7

I think CR7 should play more centrally and ready to run for through balls and finishing chances, instead of playing wide, run with the ball and exhausted himself on the process. This what we mean with more calm and banging that goals. More of style of play that Henry did with Arsenal
