Great game regardless of opposition sometimes it’s harder to play against the lesser teams who sit back and keep it tight. He was a nice link between the midfield and forward line always looked like he could create a chance and kept the ball moving nicely.

Very similar style to Ramsey almost look in each other’s way at times but I like seeing them play together

Was unbelievably bad in the first half (Whole team was but him and Ronny were hopeless). Much better in the second, i think he fits much better into this 4-3-1-2 than he does as a false 9 (not saying he was bad there though), i personally like him alongside another striker .

Gave me the impression that he was much more confident aswell as dangerous in this ‘new’ 4-3-1-2 SS role, seems to have more freedom and gets time and space to connect with Ronaldo / Ramsey / Pjanic better.

Hopefully he keeps on improving and gets back to his old self, surely seems to be on the right path.

Agree...SS role suits him best. The formation makes it hard to play Costa when fit and in form. Not sure we can afford to leave Costa out of the team.

The narrative of Paulo's haters is just ridiculous: is just minor team, he just use his left foot, his too slow, he falls all the time, his a mental looser, he can't play as false 9, he can't plat with CR7, DC is way better and more reliable than him, Bernar is better than him, Pipa is in better form, Pipa and CR7 chemistry is like the one with Benzema, sell him and buy Chiesa

What amount of moronic BS they all can create

Not sure it matters much whether when Costa plays the prematch formation is written down as 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-3 . Both Costa and Ronaldo will regardless spend some of their time on the wings. We fans pay too much attention to supposed formations when players will anyway move between multiple positions during a game.

Costa at am would be terrible, he is an excellent winger, but i don't think he is one to build a formation around due to his injury proneness, always put him on late in games to use his pace and its good to have 2 options when it comes to formations

Costa can easily play AM position. He has experience playing there before.
do you base this claim on transfermarkt data? for instance this one:
https://www.transfermarkt.com/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3011975
this was our usual 4-3-3, it's just transfermarkt who stored the wrong formation.

or this:
https://www.transfermarkt.com/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/2618604
it was guardiola's experimental 4-2-4, with 2 left wingers jammed into one single formation. i guess transfermarkt's system cannot handle two wingers on the same side.

costa is a winger, and as far as i remember, i never saw him playing an other position.
