I would prefer Verratti over Pogba if i'm honest
They are on an even keel on some aspects, but Pogba Knicks that battle on the physical front and it's not even close. It just gives him an extra dimension in his game that only few players in the world have at this point. Like Cristiano for example. To combine supreme athleticism with his gameplay, you know he's a once in a generation type player. Verratti ticks a lot of boxes too, but if I had to choose, I too would choose Verrstti over Pogba only from a Juve perspective. Not otherwise.

Only reason why i would take Verratti over Pogba is becasue he is Italian ,and Juve fan .

Anyway Pogba is better than him .
these are 2 fairly different players. pogba is the best box 2 box midfielder, with all the flair and fancy you can expect from a midfielder. he's a monster physically, and makes everything look easy. verratti is a pirlo + gattuso hybrid, better at defensive work than pogba, a hard working mofo who will pass the shit out of any opposition, but won't win you matches on his own. pogba is more decisive, verratti is more reliable. if both were on the market for a similar price, i couldn't make a choice. now it's easy: verratti is out of our reach.

yeah, i know that. but the club's annual balance sheet earnings only turned positive in 2015, the club carried massive losses due to the squad reconstruction. and now, in case we keep pogba, we're heading into an easy -150m mercato, which would affect at least 3-4 years. also, higuain is not a long-term investment, and as we already discussed, we can't expect any plusvalenza or considerable resale value from him.

don't get me wrong, i completely trust beppe, he's been doing a near perfect job since he arrived. he consolidated the balance sheet while building a top quality squad. but ~150m for 4 years is just too much to handle without making any big sacrifices, or making a considerable jump in income. either we have some new fat sponsorship deals, or we expect some large amounts of $$$ from player sales. it'd better be zaza & pereyra.

anyway, i won't judge beppe before the end of the mercato.
Higuain is a right now investment. Resale value only matters when buying potential. Higuain is at the level where your "resale" player some day hopes to be for a year or two.

Like Nedved and Thuram, you arent expecting them to be anything else then worldclass in their peak.

I know, its a big commitment, but we can easely do it. We will need to sell Zaza and Pereyra. Hernanes if he'd accept

At 100m, would PSG sell? I know they're rich AF. But can we test their resolve or it's a non starter of a convo? 100m? Just replace Pogba with Verratti. Fuck everything else.

Many people grotesquely underestimate just how good verratti is defensively.
No, he's not as imposing as Pogba. But he's amazing at closing down passing lanes (ala marchisio, very tactically gifted) and incredibly resillient when having the ball.
Most of all, Verratti is exceptionally effective. And he'll perform all game, all season.

I really like verratti

Pogba ideally requires to have alot of freedom and be carried and can be decisive as fuck for a few months.

Verratti is a constant immense influence on the midfield, a driving force troughout the game, that can easely decides games with his passing. He's less offensively decisive, but he'll have a bigger impact, and this all game, all season long.

Verratti and Marchisio is an impossible midfield to play against

VerrattiS consistency is where he fits the Juve bill better than Pogba, and will perform better in a more straight jacketed role. His discipline is what fits the Italian mentality better than Pogba. But for in game adaptability and dynamism, Pogbas physicality just takes things up a notch or maybe even two. That normally goes a long way in making a difference as a decisive player.

it does, but it requires specific circumstances to work.
