How come there's such a clause? He cam for free, as a free agent, there was no dealing with Man Utd for him so why are United mentioned here?

As far as I know signing any under 23 player for free under bosman rule incurs a 10% future transfer fee owed to the original club, plus the 400k we paid as compensation. I also remember that this clause is valid only as long as the player is still on his original contract, which pogba isn't so I don't know what to make of zizinho's post really.

Matuidi was invisible today too. Can't blame Sissoko. He more than showed up today unlike Pogba and Matuidi and he was the only link between the midfield and the attack and went Koman went on he became the link not pogba's passing nor matuidi's. Plus, Vidal does play for a team that largely sucks apart from 2 other players or so. He always shows up for his NT.

You can't really argue that Pogba has anything on Vidal defensively or in terms of aggression because no one does. In terms of grinta and leadership too vidal is on another level. For a game like this (as DM and in a final), Vidal is the better player to have on your team.


Pogba did poorly as a DM/regista. Its obvious he is not world class at it. We saw it with Juve too when marchisio was out and he dropped deep. That is not to say that he is not a world class player when employed in his role. Vidal is just more versatile and is mentally more of a leader in general.

Vidal is not even half the player Pogba is nowadays.

Well I think we all knew it before this tournament that he isn't a regista the problem was that Deschamps didn't. Hernanes can only dream of performances like this one though both defensively and distribution wise. He isn't the reason France lost he was actually one of the players who was always looking to get on the ball, we've seen players like Krychowiak play these kind of games and everyone gets their panties wet the problem is Pogba is now a 100m player and everybody expects attacking brilliance sadly it wasn't possible today.

Hernanes against bayern did much better. He was a key cog in our play. thats his exception not the norm though.

Deschamps has no one else that can pass the ball so pogba was his best option. It is clear though that Pogba was not motivated at all in this game. If fucking parolo can be made to distribute then surely Pogba would be too if the coach can motivate him in the right way.

not sure if you noticed, probably dont even watch Chile, but Vidal plays with a midfielder whos great offensively, Aranguiz. Pogba doesent have such type of player in his France team, all of them except Cabaye are box to box mids with some questionable passing. in fact, both Diaz and Aranguiz would suit Pogba much more than this midfield of France that is a complete mess. moreover, the 2 NTs play completely different, so you cant compare them, and the roles of the 2 players for both teams are miles away. saying that Vidal would perform better than Pogba in this midfield, where he would be expected to be the ball distributor and attack starter, while covering for the 2 other mids is pretty baseless assumption. seriously, im starting to question if you even watch games or just talk out of your ass

Aranguiz, Medel, diaz and fernandes vs Payet, Griezman, Matuidi and Sissoko are you fucking kidding me? Not only are the french players much more solid defensively and a lot more potent offensively, but the Chileans have won 2 coppas back to back in convincing fashion. The chileans arent good enough for Roma ffs.

Payet and Griezman are creative as fuck. Matuidi and Sissoko do fuck loads of defensive work and Matuidi is usually a pretty good Box-to-Box player.

I'd rather Pogba played with some aggression and took the game by the neck even if that involves some risks than make a complete no show and spend the game passing back to umtiti and koscielny. He provided no service whatsoever. Sissoko took matters into his own hands and it worked. Koman did the same to less effect and Payet to even less.

Pogba has a very poor game even by the standards he set during this tournament which are nothing special. I dont understand why you want to defend his abilities as a DM/Regista he just not cut out for it. And yes vidal is more cut out for it than he is judging by his superior defensive qualities and work ethic.

He is also the guy who was a key player in two back back coppa wins and was a key protagonist in the CL for us under Conte (remember chelsea?) and was an important player for bayern in the CL this season (against us actually). He lost his nerves once but proved himself on the bigger stages plenty of time.

This is compared to Pogba who was largely a no show in this tournament and especially in the final. We also so him choking for us at the start of the season and it was dybala that lifted us out of this mess until marchisio came back and pogba eventually recovered form. Pogba has not yet proved himself on the big stage and this euros was a missed opportunity.

Vidal is definitely more of a big game player than Pogba so far and is definitely more of a leader. Pogba has time though because vidal is old so thats kind of expected.

No one denied that. I am only making two observations. 1- He did not do well at all in this DM/regista position. 2- He is not mentally strong enough YET to be a leader on the big occasions. The pressure gets to him.

So based on these two observations, 1- we should not count on him as a regista which we thankfully don't have to do. 2- give him more time to mature and gain experience. Juve is full of leaders anyway and dybala seems like a more natural leader in our attack.
