Zidane was the best of his generation, but I think people here are going a bit nuts over him. It's like with celebrities who get much more credit after they die. Retired football players become the best ever and the best there ever will be.

Yes it's true. Zidane was amazing but as with any retired footballer, their actual abilities get a pretty big nostalgic boost to the point where you simply can't compete with them no matter what.

Imagine being a youth player just getting signed or owned by Juve. It used to be that this club was a place you went to die if you were youth...sorta like a reverse nursing home for a bunch of Benjamin Buttons. Have we turned over a new leaf? :touched:

Seeing Pogba/Coman blossum, if you are a Berardi or Zaza are you a bit salty or drooling at the mouth of your chance to make it and follow in their footsteps.

except that most did start following football way too earlier than you and considered zidane as the greatest ever even before he retired

Comparing players from vastly different generations is retarded

Everything has changed. The balls, the pitches, the training, the tactics, the competition etc etc etc

Zidane was absolutely unbelievable, an amazing talent. So people should leave it at that, instead of trying to fit all of these different players in different positions from different eras into some sort of pathetic list.

My cousin supports Manure and couldn't believe it when I said I would pick Nedved ahead of Zidane in my all time Juve side if i could only choose one of them.

Neddy just has a bigger place in my heart than the Frenchman.Al though Zidane just oozed class and was a joy to watch he didn't turn up for a lot of our big games.

I think all non-Juve fans would easily say Zidane is better and they would be probably be right.

I'd pick Nedved over Zizou too. With Nedved, you got consistently world class performances and he terrorized the opposition. The fact that he got a Balon d'Or in a era with so many "flashy" attacking players is pretty cool too. Amazing player.

He almost exclusively turned up for our big games. Nedved is a monster, but Zidane is imo the best player I've ever watched - so it's easy for me.

A bit nuts over him?. Getting credit after the retired?.
Seriously. The guy singlehaddedly won the 1998 WC, and guided the team in the Euro 2000. Won the CL for real madrid with an splendid goal which was the icing on the cake pof that campaign, and alsmot singlehandedly made france win the WC again in 2006, destroying teams like spain on the process , at the verge of retirement.

All of this withotu taking in consideration all his technical traits which has been discussed plenty in this forum.

Dont get me wrong.. Nevded Zozou and DP have been my favs players...and even when i admit that the season neddy won the Ballondor he was much better than zidane...as a whole Zidane was better. Much more influential and a joy to watch.
