I thought he was quite bad today, especially in his positioning, probably should have been taken off earlier.

He was average but I think he was given a role, somehow restrictive as to stay further up. I don't like restricting roles and it seems that Conte is developing the team towards more tailor made roles. Anyway, what I like about Pogba is his element of surprise, he suddenly appears, snatches the ball and does something good with it. Today and with the lack of our free flowing game he was not able to surprise the opponents as he used to, he was just waiting recovering possession and when we outnumbered them and had possession his role became somehow redundant and Giaccherini was played to do more running.

He should have been there at the far post when Poli had a free shot at goal. And Alessio did complain before about Pogba not doing what was asked of him. He was playing too high on the pitch among the Samp defenders, Pirlo's only option to the right was Padoin and from there on it was only going to be a cross that Sampdoria defenders could easily deal with.

Good game but does get dragged into the middle a bit too much when playing on the left of the three. You can see him getting better tactically, and I'm sure he will learn that too.
