Platini: 'Pogba not a star'
Football Italia

UEFA President Michel Platini believes that Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is not a star player on the same level as Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
The former Juventus great criticised the French international’s low goal tally and expressed his belief that this must improve if he were to be considered a great.
“Pogba isn’t a superstar,” Platini said to RTL.

“A great footballing star is someone who scores a lot of goals.
“I don’t know if Paul Pogba is someone who can be on the same level as Messi or Ronaldo, as they both score 50 goals a season.
“It’s interesting to notice that when he loses the ball and his teammates suffer, they yell at him straight away.”
Pogba has scored 10 goals in 38 appearances for the Old Lady this season, helping them to the Scudetto, Coppa Italia final and Champions League final.

.....................
Oh so Cannavaro, Maldini, Buffon, Xavi and the others aren't footballing stars? Great logic there Platini. Football isn't being played only by the forwards you know.
He's pretty much said what I said before, pogba is in no position to be such like messi and ronaldo, his nature of play simply does not allow it.

Who was the last CM, I say it again : CENTRAL MIDFIELDER that can be mentioned on the same level as from pele maradona to messi ronaldo?

Nobody isn't it?

Mentioning platini on the same level as messi is acceptable, but would you consider vieira, roy keane, tardelli etc on the same level as baggio?

Thus I say this again, pogba is over rated (as in his transfer value)

For a € 100m I would want a pele not a vieira or even a bunch of legendary CMs.

Thx God those deluded clubs want to pay that much for pogba when he wants to move

Indeed. But like i said it's just the way it is. Goals win you games, winning games grants you titles. Whoever scores them is automatically brought to the spotlight.
And this why I just can't agree with those who viewed that italian defending heritage is something that must be preserved at the same level as modern attacking football is... At the end of everything, to win in this sport you need to score and outscore your opponent, only preventing others from scoring against you will not make you win, it's just the way it is unfortunatelly.

:applause: for Platini for the humble pie for Pogba.

Since he came back from injury Pogba was trying a lot of flashy moves and his teamwork wasn't that great. A good reminder from Platini that he needs to work hard to be a world class player.

He has played less than 100 minutes.

I love Pogba and hope he becomes a beast with us, but he needs to improve his efficiency, work hard and stay humble. Platini's opinion is just a reminder for that.

This is more like it: Silver star goes above the Concordia if they win their 10th Coppa tonight. Three stars are supposed to finally appear on the jersey next year above the Juve logo for the Scudetto. I'm not overly concerned with the Club World Cup patch if we win it. Let's with the CL first!
