I like how certain members always find an excuse to defend a transfer move, you can always find someone doing it no matter who the target is.

We just offloaded Vucinic and will be offloading Quag. Evra will be coming for 2 years and will be making 4m while all the other players we are after will be coming on low wages. If anything we just opened up our wage structure with the sales

You can sugar coat it as much as you like. The fact remains that he isn't a "cheap option" at all considering his age. I don't like such transfers because as you said, they are short term fixes and this team has enough of that. This team needs quality, not bench options.

i think around page 2 of this thread somebody asked for alternatives...
i´m not willing to read 20 pages again but i assume there weren´t any suggestions despite "JUST buy rodriguez/coentrao/marcelo" or the omnipresent "free" murru?

obviously i´m not a fan of paying high wages to older players but we need a lb and i can´t see any alternatives we can afford so it´s probably between evra, the great murru or a self-made solution like asamoah, ogbonna, caceres or chiellini :boh:

nearing 30 and therefore would probably want a ~4 year contract.
current contract runs till 2017 so probably 10-13m fee?
salary 3.3m and if these crappy google sources are right about that it´s after taxes... not sure, though.

i like him as a player but this doesn´t sound like a great (long term) solution to me as well.

He can play 4 years easily IMO, he's at his best age right now. I don't think he'd be worth more than 10 at the moment.

maybe. thing is that this (let´s say) 10m fee would probably mean a lot to us this transfer window... if his salary really is that high.

I totally agree but then would u rather see our lb issue go unsolved because the likes of adriano, Marcelo, and coentrao will cost a lot more

Fuck Evra. Washed up piece of shit, and dirty as fuck.

I hope I'll still allowed to insult him after the Mercato ends.

But he might accept 3mln/season. Which is like Evra's deal, while he's a lot younger than him. :boh:

yeah sure. still his fee would probably be ~8mio higher than evra´s. obviously he would be the better "long term" solution but this fee could probably hurt the rest of our mercato...
if that´s the case i´m fine with evra.
