Just after getting bronze, he proclaimed that he had covid during race :rolleyes2::D
It's certainly an explanation for his finish. He always ends strong and now it was the opposite. His form was off too, definitely didn't look like himself.

But Tebogo's time is definitely on par with past gold medalists in this event. Congrats to him.

I don't understand your point.

I like Tebogo and he was my preferred winner on this event. He deserved it too. All I'm saying is that, if you have asthma and get covid, a bronze medal is not that bad.

The first thing he did was to hug Tebogo lol
People just like to hate.

The great part about track and field is the respect between athletes.

And ffs Lyles won gold on the 100 and has a PR of 19.31 on the 200. He's not some loser.

I'm not being serious, just joking, don't have anything against Lyles except him coming off bit pompous at times.

The timing of announcing he has covid after he got Bronze was amusing tho. Makes for good material. Someone made a meme about how he was jumping like jack rabbit with his announcement entrance didn't seem like someone impaired lol

Also PR wise, doubt he would have said it if he had gotten gold. He been wearing mask for few days so it's not exactly shocking he was down with something.

It's something they prepare for over 4 years so no athlete wants to miss an event. But the Olympics themselves allowing athletes who has covid is kinda odd, even if it's more manageable now. Because there been several athletes who competed despite covid infection.

They will probably lose by 15-20, but the fact that Jokic and co. are leading by 11 at HT against the USA is woooow :delpiero:

He has asthma and was diagnosed with Covid two days ago.

I like Tebogo and he ran a great race. Deserved winner.

But I wouldnt say Lyles choked.
Yeah, yeah, I had no idea that he had Covid. That explains a lot.

The past couple of years the media (I know the Indian one at least) has been trying to make it into a nationalistic rivalry, but both of them have been incredibly respectful towards each other. I remember Chopra’s mom shutting down a journalist when he tried to bait her into giving a statement against Pakistan.
What an achievement by Nadeem though. In a country as dysfunctional as Pakistan, especially when it comes to sports, to come out and win a gold is just incredible.

Wait, why was he allowed to compete with covid. His covid news just stole the thunder from Tebogo's performance.
Adam Peaty says he had covid for his swimming final as well, I think athletes just compete now, might as well have a go. It's not really a blanket excuse as it does depend on the individual.
