So, Bettega and co are bound for Buenos Aires in Januaty to negotiate a Vieira style transfer of Rodrigo Palacio (born 5/2/82), having reportly having had a bid of 6,000,000 US$ turned down by Boca .

Wasn't it Jan 2005 that they made the same journey to attempt to sign Javier Mascherano from River?

Whatever happens, it seems from all accounts that he might just be a replacement for someone we may be selling for a kings ransom in January (to leave after the end of the 05/06 season)

Recorded only the 2nd half of Boca-Independiente and WOW!!!

This kid is faster than Superman. :D
He runs like hell at defenders and they have to foul him every single time to stop him.
He starts on the left side and goes to the middle. Cap loves this king of player right. ;)

Plays left wing and also on the right.

GET HIM NOW MOGGI!!! and let him stay at Boca for a year or two and when Pavel retires here he comes.

Let's get him now before Barca, Real, Milan, Inter.... get him.

ESPN made a article about Palacio today, Im gonna try to trasnlated for you:

    " Boca's new Golden Boy"

He played maybe the best game of his life in wich was the most important game of his life. A clasic, a truly final, all or nothing to say godbye to the tournarnament or keep alive the dream of the championship. And Rodrigo Palacio pull a 10 in the Bombonera (Boca's stadium), full with croud, dribling, facing the oponents and taking comand of Boca's attack.

Dribling rivals and playing for the team, The "Pibe Bahiense" was the most important figure for Boca in the game against Independiente. He made am all arround mission where the only thing that he miss was a goal, not becouse he missed, but becouse he preferd to play for the team and assist his mates that were in better position than him (he assist the second Boca goal)

With only one week to play, Boca won the game against Independiente 2-0, Boca recoverd the fist place and Palacio has alot to do in Boca's succes.

" That I was the figure? I think that I played a good game, but the team was the figure" said Palacio after the game

Close of the Title (and Home)

Even if Boca is very near to win both Cups, the young forward keeps it cool " We still havent won anything, but we are one point ahead of Gimnacia and a litle more close of the title"

This wednesday, when Boca goes to play Olimpico, Rodrigo will have a unique chance, to walk champion with Boca and do it in his hometown: Bahia Blanca.

Palacio, was born in Bahi Blanca, he will have 24 years old next year and he start his soccer carrer in the team Bella Vista, in this club Alfilo Basile (current Boca's coach) also played in his youth.

"Yes Palacio came from the same team that I used to play" said Basile and he doesnt hide that Palacio is one of his favorites players becouse of his habilities and becouse both came from the same town.

"He is great, the way he is playing is incredible, he dribles for both sides of the field, he is quick, he has habilityes... Theres no doubt that he is a diferent kind of player" said Basile, and he keeps talking about Palacio " The game that he played in Mexico against Pumas was awsome. After he run for the enterie game, in the 90 minute he made a great run and almost made a great goal, he shoot at goal with a incredible power, he is a fenomenon"

Boca's fans agree with Basile. On Sunday, like never, "La Doce" chant his name. " Its very nice that the people support you, they have always been good with me, since the day I came, I hope to be here for a long time" he added. Mauricio Macri (Boca's president) wants to keep him until 2007, but it will not be an easy job, both Juventus and Barcelona have ask for him.

This year he has played 46 games between local games and internacional games, scoring 20 goals. Besides, he made his National Team debut, where he played two games.

    The confidence of his DT

Palacio came to Boca from Banfield in january of 2005. In his first semester he showed litle things about his way of playing, he fougth for the first spot in the team against historical players of the club like Marcelo Delgado, Martin Palermo and Gullermo Barros Schelotto, his idol when he was a litle kid.

With Jorge Benitez has coach he played litle, and just like the hole club he ended the year in not a very good shape.

After that Basile came to Boca, and gave Palacio the confidence that he needed to began to show his great conditions.

"El Coco" (Basile's nickname) gave him a regular spot in the first team and made clear that his job in the team was to played alonside Palermo in the front, sending Marcelo Delgado and Schelloto in the bench. Rordigo answer this confidence in the field scoring goals, he has 10 goals just in this tournament and is second in the top scorers table.

On wednesday he has the cnahce to win his second championship with Boca, in his hometown, close to his people, and like this close a great 2005 year.
