Simone Padoin has claimed he is relishing the opportunity to link up with Antonio Conte after completing a permanent switch from Atalanta. The new arrival played under Conte during a brief spell in Bergamo, and wasted no time in citing his coaching skills as a major deciding factor behind his move to Turin.
“He influenced me greatly,” he admitted. *“I’ve had the fortune to have been coached by him two years ago, in a brief three or four month period at Atalanta. It was a very positive experience and it was evident that he had very clear ideas, along with a precise way of playing.”
Padoin reflected on his whirlwind 48 hours and told the media when he was first made aware of Juventus’ interest.
“It was two days ago,” he mused. “And it was an incredible surprise as far as I was concerned. Right up until that moment I had no idea about the move whatsoever. It was a great feeling. Every boy dreams of wearing the shirt of such an important team.”
The midfielder, who can also operate at full-back, has already enjoyed a stint with the Bianconeri, joining up with the team on their 2010 pre-season tour of the United States and Canada. And he believes there is a great contrast between the side he left behind and Conte’s new-look outfit.
“When I see Juventus play,” said Padoin. “It seems that they have an incredible spirit which is similar to the manager’s when he played. I was greatly impressed by Vidal’s performance in Bergamo two weeks ago.”
The 27-year-old ended by guaranteeing Bianconeri fans his entire dedication to the cause.
“It’s now up to me,” he affirmed. “I need to show that I deserve this opportunity. I come here with great humility. My objective is to lend a hand and to make a contribution to be able to win something.”
