I watched Zabaleta playing for national and he is very strong. He will add some more power to our defense.

I used to play this player in my team on PlayStation (ProEvolutionSoccer) and he develops amazingly. And the people at Konami, have set some real characteristics to young taletns like Aguero (2 years ago I played him and developed huge), Joao Mountinho (2 years ago, and I heard that he is a talent first time this year at the Euro-s), Zabaleta, Di Maria (from Benfica ) and others... very intersting how they "guess" this...

Anyhow...I think that it will be good for us, plus he is not so expensive, and fits perfectly to our team.
Pffff :lol2:

i'd rather this board keep books in check rather than risk on someone who might be the next tiago. with or wihtout zabaleta, scudetto or champs league is oput of reach. better save money for next summer.
Anybody could be the "next Tiago." So you're saying we shouldn't buy anybody else just because they could turn out to be not the player we paid for?

Spot on Andy - every purchase is a calculated risk.

There's been a lot of talk about us picking up another central midfielder before the window closes... I say fuck that noise... :p

Our back line needs strengthening now. If there's a solid deal to be made, it needs to happen. If not, then it's January at the latest. It's not as though we're guaranteed the top 4 finish that we desperately need to keep this momentum going. Not to mention that our current D certainly won't hold up against the top teams in Europe - I want to see us make a mark in CL this season. We can't afford to wait until next summer to improve our defense.

Unless the BOD steps up and commits some serious funds... which is what we'd all prefer, but doesn't seem likely...

If what I've read is correct - that Zabaleta's buyout clause is 8M euros and that he would love to come to Juventus - I would support this calculated risk. We can't lose very much money on this deal and the potential rewards far outweigh the risk.

Ultimately, this move would be better than nothing - which is probably what will happen...

BTW, I watched all of the NT Olympic matches, and although it's not a great case study (by any means), I came away unimpressed by De Silvestri. He's got some serious wheels, but pretty lousy touch - especially his first touch - very limited ball control... he gets way too far ahead of himself. I didn't think that he was very strong defensively either - he got flat out schooled several times. Given all the hype I've heard about the player, I was pretty disappointed TBH. On the whole, I really haven't seen him play much - maybe he just had a lousy tournament?

He has been off since the Toulon ended. He sucked in the friendly against Romania, then in the Olympics too.

Him not being technical has been evident even when at his best, but yeah, he has been way better before then he has been lately.

I know it looks stupid to you, but it is for real. after several years of playing the "master league" (for non informed: where you buy/sell players and they develop in different characteristics and abilities), I have "discovered" several future stars :)

Zabaleta was in my Juventus many times :)
play a little less games my friend
this is the real life

no, im saying we should not buy someone who wont be a hure improvement on what we already have. so he can play rb, so what, grygera and zebina are solid rbs, ffs, man u won the cl with brown and o'shea playing there. as for mc, i'd much rather see marchisio used more often there.

i read today that vidic is apparently now very happy at manchester because of shit weather and stuff. our defence is shite, but bringing in a right back wont solve the problems, so why not go for vidic, arguably europe's most underrated defender.
