Even if it's a fair value, i think it's too much for a backup when we still have some areas in our starting 11 that should be improved. Maybe if we manage to offload both Quag and Vucinic it would be then reasonable to get him.
He won't really be a 'back up' as such, but a rotational player. You need to have good players as options up front.

What areas of our starting XI need improving, really? In a 3-5-2 there are really hardly any I can think of, with the exception of another 'rotational' CM and maybe a more desirable sweeper (for some people). The rest of the team is pretty set in stone. Mostly we are looking for players good enough to at least challenge for starting positions, I call them rotational players as that is what big sides have, rather than players like a Peluso or Padoin who we know are strictly back ups.

I still think we'll pay €15m for him, unless there is some incredible loss of form or he punches Conte in training. Which is a fair figure for a player of his ability and age in the current market.
That means our retard manager never learn from his mistakes. Pay 15 million for a third rate, third choice 30 years old atriker, then cry about how we can't afford top players and we'll have to sell Pogba if a mega offer comes.

I think we are in dire need of some creativity and pace, an AM, a RW that would allow us to switch positions !!

He's not a third rate player, he'll rotate heavily with Llorente and he's not near 30 years old.

Well yeah, if we are switching to another formation I can see it, but I'm quite skeptical of that. If you buy 'starters' for a team like Juventus then these are going to cost more, and will relegate both Bonucci and probably Asamoah to the bench.

Vucinic and Quagliarella out, Osvaldo in, pretty simple logic for now and the summer. I suppose you'll still be adding up these signings over several windows and harp on about how we could have signed Cavani.

I trust Osvaldo's potential to become next Vucinic and Quagliarella. He is one of those strikers who don't score at all, that's what his career is telling us. Napoli signed Cavani for the amount we paid for Quagliarella, it wouldn't be a wrong to say we could have signed Cavani.

We are either buying Osvaldo, or getting one of Immobile and Gabbiadini IMO... I don't think we are buying a different striker because we need strikers in our team that have been proven in Serie A...

But you're not looking for us to buy Cavani from Palermo, you want Cavani from Napoli or PSG. Let's pretend you wouldn't complain about us signing Cavani from Palermo, a player who scored a goal every 3 games. We are all experts in hindsight, that game is very easy.

Let us also pretend we haven't signed many quality players for discount fees.

Strikers aren't really an issue for us, we score a lot of goals and are overflowing with options.

Quagliarella and Vucinic are sure to be sold this summer. Say we get €15m for the pair. That goes on Osvaldo. We bring back Immobile or Gabbiadini half for another €8m-€10m or so. That is our total striker spend, that last number. We could make more than that back by selling the halves of others we own (Immobile/Gabbiadini, Boakye, Zaza, Marrone, whoever, the list is huge). We might spend that money to bring Berardi in fully, or use it elsewhere, other wingers.

3-5-2: Tevez, Llorente, Osvaldo, Immobile, Giovinco.
Possibly with a shift to a front 3, adding Berardi/Nani and Cerci, 4 natural strikers, 3 natural wide forwards.

Even though I really want to see a change of formation, I just dont see it happening. Our mercato will consist of selling quag, vucinic, and padoin. We will then most likely buy a 5th choice cm, a lwb, and a player like cerci.

It was you, i didn't mention Cavani in my post. My point was we're spending way too much for unnecessary players, it will definitely hurt us in long term.

I've already shown that Osvaldo isn't unnecessary, he is absolutely necessary at this point.

I agree in the sense we should find our own Cavani, I've always said that, it's the only way we can compete. Spending €30m simply isn't.
