I am sure that is what he meant :shifty:
In the end it all means the same. Don't sign 4 x €10m players to sign a €40m player, aka the Padoin+Peluso=Cavani argument we have been over at least a dozen times on this forum. One which disregards wage structure, cash and payment options, bidding wars. If these thing weren't important we would have signed Agüero and RvP already.

Problem is that if we had taken this route when people originally wanted to we'd have a squad of about 13 players by now, but I agree in the sense that more quality is required at this stage in our development. What I'm not going to do is start crying about swapping one €12m-€15m player for another.

Lets not get carried away. Martinez was essentially throwing the money in the garbage as he gave no contribution to Juventus and we could not sell him at all.
Osvaldo has shown he can score in Italy, plays for the national team and has already played with many of our players.
Many players can score in Italy, and playing for the national team these days is hardly an achievement, considering that your compeition is receding hairline Gila, RFT Matri, and the consistently crocked El Shaarawy. In the heyday of Vieri, Totti, and Del Piero Lolsvaldo would be sucking pricks and scrubbing anuses in the locker rooms.

I'm so happy right now :touched:

Could I open his player thread?

I loved Mirko with all my heart but I like Osvaldo too. I admire Beppe every single day again, how wrong was I about this guy.

15 mil for a world class player isn't much IMO
:howler: WTF?! I don't even know what to say. You must be trolling.

To be fair he was making a statement, it might not necessarily be in context with Osvaldo :D

Ok, I'm beginning to seriously doubt this move now.

I rate Vucinic much higher than this glorified dud. I actually believe this is a downgrade and a step in the wrong direction. This money could have been spent/utilized more wisely, assuming of course this is a done deal. I shall cling onto the hope that this is some farce, and Beppe is planning something else.

You have by approval. :numnum:

Just don't do it before it's official. That's just so wrong man.

Vucinic is more technically gifted, but Osvaldo is more of a goal threat. I don't think there is much difference between their values.

Considering the situation with Vucinic and how long he has been on the sidelines (selection and injury) if we can do a swap deal in terms of value then I don't see a huge issue. The big question mark against Osvaldo has to be his immaturity.

The thing is, these swaps do nothing for us

We're at the stage where it's quality we need.
You could make the wage argument sure. But if we sign 4 10M players on 2M/year each, it's not like 1 40M player would be on a much higher wage.

We're past the stage of filling our bench with whoever we can get our hands on. At this point it's at best a sideways step. And possibly a step backwards.

Well this move will be a good test of my belief that Juve tend to be the most disciplined of the big clubs when it comes to player conduct.

With the disciplined background, I can see why Juve would be prepared to take the risk of signing Osvaldo.

Not sure I'd do it myself, but I can understand Juve's temptation.

He is a good player.

We won't sign quality in this window. Quality costs money, quality in the January transfer window costs 1.5x that money.

You people are mad. I don't think Osvaldo is world class or will make us a contender for the CL title, but he's good enough player for rotation and a lot better than Quag or Gio as an option on the bench. And I mean a lot.

We already have two great strikers in Llorente and Tévez. He won't be a first team regular at all but having him on the bench is a good enough deal for me.
