You don't pay the money this year , say you have 12 mil left , and you need a lb and another players let's say a cm who also costs 10 mil . You can get the lb with this method and you are left 10 mil for the cm and you can have both players in the same season .
Second reason is because you don't pay the full amount in one year , you split installments which allows you not to make a minus in the account books
you have to add to that, that the funds of transfers are coming from a different budget than the funds for the loans (which will get paid from the "wage budget").

so if you have spend all your transfer budget but you do have a few millions left in the wage budget you can simply acquire a player by loaning him with the remaining funds of wage budget.
in the end you should always use your full wage budget, because if you don't next season someone might cut the budget, because you was OK with less budget the season before.

We hardly saved :p

It just means we have the advantage in any negotiations with their players as is showing with Armero.
