ANDERLECHT MUGGED DURING CL MATCH IN PRAGUE
Prague, Czech Republic - RSC Anderlecht earned their tickets to the Champions League deservedly by defeating Slavia Prague on Wednesday, but happiness will have been limited in the Belgian camp after they discovered most of their possessions were stolen from the dressing room.
"I'm ashamed of being Czech right now", Anderlecht goalkeeper Daniel Zitka said after the theft, which took place right before half time. Almost all players (14 in total) were missing some personal belongings, among the victims were Bart Goor and Vincent Kompany.
Nenad Jestrovic and Serhat lost the most. Jestrovic was missing €1500, a computer, a watch, jewelry, his wedding ring and his cellphone. Serhat lost, among other things, his passport, playstation and creditcards. Pär Zetterberg even came to the staggering conclusion that the thieves had stolen his insuline injection needles.
"This is a disgrace for the organisation of Slavia", coach Franky Vercautered said to the journalists of Belgian sports programme Sporza Radio. The coaches of Anderlecht discovered the thefts at half time, just before the players entered the dressing rooms.
"But of course we couldn't tell them that, there was an important match going on. Wallets, creditcards, passports, juwelry, it was all gone. I feel sorry for the lads", Vercauteren continued.
After halftime, the Belgians won the match as Serhat and Mbo Mpenza scored and sealed a 2-0 victory.
