I get this too many times, being called a Del Piero hater and all, and frankly I'm tired of that nonsense. Del Piero has been one of my favorite players of all time, right up there with Zidane and Robby. So for people to call me a DP hater is rather naive.
read my post again,i didn't call you a Del Piero hater,in fact I mentioned otherwise;)
What I am also tired of is when people castigate Zlatan for minor issues and have this Del Piero bias that causes them to look past the facts. I would not be so critical of Del Piero on this forum if it were not for the people who say Del Piero has been the better striker or the famous "DP deserves a spot ahead of Zlatan because he is DP." That is some of the material that fuels my criticism on here of Del Piero. I want to take people by the neck and show them that Zlatan has been great thus far and deserves recognition. I think that a player who came to Juventus on deadline day and already has become our most influential striker deserves a lot of credit. What he has done thus far is outstanding. However people still give him harsh treatment because he is the "new guy" and fans still favor Del Piero. That is what I am trying to change.
Of course I'm not saying Del Piero deserves his place any more than Zlatan just because he is Del Piero. As much as I like him as a player i will not jeopardize Juve by insisting we play him all the time purely basing on his past achievements. What I am merely trying to say is that alot of people here who think Del Piero's merits are undeserved overrate Zlatan's performances themselves, even at times when Zlatan plays worse than DP.Nobody's denying Zlatan his fair share of the limelight here.He just won the Player of the Month award and I'm sure there are a good number of Del Piero fans amongst those who voted for him. He's played well alright. However the major faults in his game are not unlike those of Del Piero and alot of the time I hear praise for Zlatan's performances when those of a similar standard from Del Piero are slammed. Why?Del Piero fans are always made out to be hopelessly biased and one sided but those who slam him aren't setting a good example themselves. He loses alot of the ball as well and in my opinion wastes good chances even more than Del Piero does. Both are fancy players but Del Piero's backheels, shimmys, tricks etc. often come good more times than Zlatan.Alessandro is the more cultured player who makes less of an impact but because of his recent failures over the last few years good performances now are overlooked if not dismissed. If you people claim to want Del Piero out for the good of the team, then why does he get more flak when he improves on his performances?

I'd say there isn't a fan of Juve in this forum that hates Del Piero. I'd rather say that there are those who loves Del Piero more than Juve, and others Juve more than Del Piero.
I know, I know. "Del Piero is Juve", and that he will be as long as he live. That doesn't mean he have to start every game no matter form. I'm still hoping he will come back, we all know what skill he possess, after all, he's 30 years old, he should have atleast 2 years left.
But I can't see him have any confidence left after playing badly for a couple years now, and being the person that he is, I bet he's feeling he's letting the fans down. The pressure gets bigger every game, and its come to that he's just not comortable with the ball any more. But yesterday I hear you say he played good, and took initiatives, but yet Capello subbed him. Bad decision in that case IMO, that's when he deserves to play. That's when he has the chance to come back (persuming the reason Capello subbed him was because of a bad game).

Of course Zlatan derserves his spot. He's been behing like 18 goals, and that's one per game. Its not perfect but with Trezeguet coming back we will be deadly. Both attackers are really tall and will attract 1-2 defenders when they are in the penalty area. That leaves space for Camo and Neddy.

Del Piero was the best forward in the game. I was angry when he was subbed. But I think Capello did it because he wanted another type of player on the field. Zalashita :p It wouldve been okay if he subbed DP for Kapo, cuz he is fast! Zalayeta is not..

I was not accusing you of doing so, I just made a point that I get that a lot around here. :D

The reason why I praise Zlatan more than Del Piero is because he has been the better player so far in the season and he is surpassing his expectations. However I do criticise him for different things, including holding on to the ball for too long. The fact of the matter is I expect more from a player who is our Captain, highest paid player, and the star of the team. I for one have not dismissed Del Piero's good perfromances, as I said he was good against Livorno, and I do not see many fans here criticizing Del Piero for that match, rightfully so. But the same cannot always be said about those who criticise Zlatan, even though he has a good match. That is what I will not stand for.

not so far if you care the number of minutes that he's had the chance to play.

Nah, that is a hopeless defense. Comparing what the two have done, Zlatan has been the better player. I do not care how much each player has played to form an opinion like this. Besides, he has played a lot of mintues, more than expected this season.

Andy, personally I don't rate the standard of Del Piero and Zlatan's overall performances this season very far apart(Zlatan's been the better player,of course). The problem is that the receptions they're getting have been very different.Anyways we both have really similar(yet opposite) stands on this matter, you for Zlatan and me Del Piero.

We both agree that Del Piero has been inferior to Zlatan so far,and that there have been posters who've not given due credit to these two players(you and I amongst them;)).We seem to be going on and on about these two points going nowhere in particular so I suggest we wait till the next match for more material for discussion.:)

I agree...

I wonder how Trezeguet's comeback will affect the strikers situation.
i am very curious what will trezeguet do in general...
he hasn't played for 4 months...
he will need plenty of time to get back to his great scoring form and that scares me... :scared:

We can't.What he needs is time and he will have that.hopefully he'll bring in some needed firepower to the team as our finishing hasn't been awesome of late.
