Currently with Juventus, but unsure of whether he’ll continue in the ranks of the Old Lady, Valeri Bojinov, is pleased to be linked with a possible move to FC Barcelona.
"For me it would be a dream come true to play for Barcelona, where Hristo Stoichkov is an idol", explained Bojinov to Bulgaria’s ‘24 chasa’ when asked about his view of a mooted move to Camp Nou.
Sources point towards the retired-wingman-turned-tactician Stoichkov having given a firm two thumbs up to Barça interest with a personal recommendation to ex-team mate Txiki Beguiristain, now the Blaugrana sporting director.
The 21 year old has been in Serie A since 2001, landing at Lecce and making a 2005 move to Fiorentina, then on to Juventus in summer 2006.
There’s been no mention of a price, although the idea is that the Bulgarian may arrive for a nominal amount if a player that doesn’t fit into the Catalan club’s plans for next season goes the other way, with Italo-Brazilian Thiago Motta being mentioned on the grapevine.
