Owen is still a class striker. Like DP(but better goalscorer) suffers in dip in form, but he was playing for Liverpool. I wish him well. Easy out Owen son.

Owen has become an average player. His main advantage, his pace, has been taken away from him. After his numerous muscle injuries, the doctors told him he has to slow down and be less explosive, and that has crippeled his game.

No Real has Ronaldo, Morientes, Raul and Owen. Great.

I think Owen will be fantastic is spain. Wait and see.
Funny how so far it's only those living in England who think Owen will do well :)

As long as Ronaldo, Raul and Morientes are fit and in form, Owen will be on the bench

Do they get newspapers out there in Spain? I swear, Camacho must be reading headlines from Euro 2000 with a decision like that.
No way this was Camacho's decision, with him being a major Moro fan he's probably pissed right now.

I would think he will be third choice behind Ronaldo and Raul, and im sure he will get plenty of playing time.

I think he'll do well because he is much underrated. He has played with Liverpool all his life for christ sake, with some proper service and in a defensively weak league like spain, he could be great.

That said I dont actually like him :D

 I'm lovin' this, it's just so funny... I can see Butragueno, Camacho and Perez having a discussion about new signings, Emilio and Jose want Vieira and, Perez answers: "Hell no, we need more forwards, a bigger name... Let's get Owen!!"

Real's forwards: Raul, Ronaldo, Morientes, Owen, Guti, Solari, Portillo(on loan)

Madrid were better when it was just Raul-Mori

I reckon Portillo will have to leave after loan finishes- keep yours eyes open Moggi!!!

Some one gave me a link to this and i thought it was funny.

This was posted on a Liverpool fan forum in respect to Michael Owen’s imminent departure to Real. Whilst not a true transcript of the negotiations, it does strike a chord amongst the fans judging by their comments to the posting.

I think it’s rather funny.

"We want your good striker player. His name all-a over the papers over here. Michaelo Owen, no?"

"We want £20m"

"No no no - we give you £10m and one of our midfield-a player. We a poor Spanish peasant club, you know"

"Okay - we'll have Morientes please"

"Ah - the thing-a eez, we accidentally play him in the Champion-a League"

"Ah right...okay, we'll have Eto'o"

"Ah yes...Eto'o...you can have him. I just tell him to get his bags..."

"..."

"..."

"...Hello?"

"Ah - hello. Who am I-a speaking to?"

"This is Liverpool Football Club. You were about to sell us that Eto'o?"

"Oh sheet? That was you? I'm sorry, I've just sold him to Bartheloan-ah."

"Oh f**king hell. Who can we have then?"

"Pick-a anyone you like"

"Anyone?"

"Anyone"

"We'll have Zidane please"

"except Zidane, Figo or Beckham"

"Er...how about Juanfran then?"

"Oh, sorry, I meant-a to say Juanfran as well. You no have him. He lazy good for nothing boy. I'd be cruel to give him to you"

"But that's your entire midfield - what f**king good is that to us?"

"No no no - we have beautiful midfield-a player Nunez."

"Who? Is he any good?"

"He beautiful, beautiful player. He the man of the match in both reserve games he's played. The best young player I've seen since (mumbles) Bruno Cheyrou"

"Fantastic - we'll take him then. So that's £10m plus this Nunez?"

"Excellent, excellent. I'll just count it out and send it over."

"Brilliant. Thanks a lot"

"OH NO NO COME BACK COME BACK THIEF!"

"Christ, are you okay?"

"Oh - I've been beaten and robbed. They've stolen a million pounds. Now I only have £9m. How will I buy the Michael Owen man now?"

"Hey that's alright, we'll take £9m."

"Oh you too kind. We admire your Liverpool Football Club for so long. I'd buy all of your players if only I could"

"Cool - we've got this Croatian and a couple of Senegalese if you're interested"

"Click........brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

"Hello? Hello? Madrid? Helloooooo...?"

let real spend their money in bullcrap

Actually when I first thought about it, I was thinking like most of you, crazy deal, but when I saw the price, I must say that Real madrid has pulled of another great deal, £8 for a player like Owen and with his marketvalue is a steal. They probably made money by buying Beckham and dont forget real Madrid has 100% of his image righs. Owens transfer sum will be paid by selling shirt, So Real isn´t spending big money, they are basically getting him for free. And even if I think he is an overrated player, he scores goals you have give him that, And I think he needs a new challenge , his pace will be well suited for those spanish defenses and dont fogets his market value as I said, like it or not football is business aswell nowadays. And sure Real Madrid needed a CB or DM more than a striker, but who is to say that they wont get niether just because they bought Owen?

And it got me thinking, why wasn´t juve interested in him? ok his not the kind of striker we need and yes I feel is kind of overrated and to be honest I dont even like him. But you cant deny that he is good enough for Juve and since he went to Reral madrid his prepared to sit on the bench. Its the 14 of august now and Juve still hasn´t bought a 4th striker, clearly Jave doesn´t seem certain to get a specific player and Owen would be capable of grabbing a first shirt. And I rather see jUve splashing out £8 on a player like Owen then buying a player like, Inzaghi for £2. With the shirts sales the amount would basically be the same. And obviously he earns more than a player like S,Inzaghi but dont forget Juve would grow as a team and be more popular. Selling more mercandish and tv rights.

But sad to say Juve are a closeminded club they barely have a official site for english speaking fans, they didn´t even have a real traning ground and this one of the biggest clubs in the world! But at least know we have the new traning complex and are building a new stadium. But we still have a far way before we reach Man utd and Real Madrid in terms of business!

Great post. And exactly right. Owen is huge in japan etc. Also had Juve signed Owen, they really would have opened themselves up to a potentially huge English market.

:wallbang: I guess Owen's getting ready to call it quits. He'll be lucky if he's the third striker, and if he is that'll be based on his name and what he has done in the past because Morientes is alot better than him. And 8m for Owen? Liverpool got robbed.
