Thats a really logical arguement, but we must set our priorities first,
Sissoko might be an opportunity target right now, but we must concentrate on our real problems. We suffer a lot in the defensive department right now and here s another year we failed to find Neddy's heir. These are real problems some of us were able to spot at the beginning of the season and our managers still fail to see,
whilst their attention is distracted from this opportunity target and CR's obsessions...

I think.. 10million euros to bring Sissoko on-loan is a lot of money :money:

Mohamed Sissoko has confirmed that negotiations over his proposed move to Juventus are still in progress.

The Serie A side have been chasing the Mali international since the transfer window opened, but with the player now on African Cup of Nations duty the deal will have to be delayed.

I thought we had a different transfer strategy now... I thought they learnt from the Tiago-Almiron debacle and had decided that they will only sign world-class players!?!?! I'm confused, Sissoko might be a player with potential, but he definitely doesnt fit into that category of players. He isnt proven in Serie A either, and there is a good chance he wont settle in very quickly, and he might not manage to settle in at all. I highly doubt that he will give us a boost in terms of quality. I'm just not sure he is worth the 15 mil euros we're planning to spend on him. Besides, signing Sissoko virtually means we wont be signing an experienced Champions League defensive midfielder in the summer. If he arrives, I highly doubt Marchisio will be in the Juve squad next season and that will be yet another homegrown talent wasted.

Then again, Ranieri has done a good job with several young players at Juve and we have every reason to trust his intuitions with Sissoko... he might turn out well for us.

I think I read that it was a Forward and a Defender?

What ever happens im not expecting Van Der Vaart or Hunterlaar!!

Liverpool midfielder Sissoko had seemed like a virtual certainty to join the Bianconeri in a transfer reputed to be worth between €13-15m.

However Juve boss Claudio Ranieri has been extremely impressed by the recent performances in training of Tiago Mendes.

The Portuguese international has had a miserable time in Turin since signing from Lyon in the summer and has been strongly linked with a January exit.

“He has changed and improved. I notice just by how easily he manages to do difficult things now,” said Ranieri.

“That wasn’t the case before, but he has the same chances as anyone to play.”

If Tiago translates his performances in training onto the pitch tonight, Juve may delay or even totally scrap plans to sign Sissoko.

Meanwhile the Malian international has been explaining the reasons why he wants to leave Liverpool and join Juventus.

“Nobody is contesting that Gerrard should be a first choice, but when Benitez prefers Mascherano or Xabi Alonso to me, then I see nothing but prejudice against me,” Sissoko told the Italian media.

“We went to Marseille for the Champions League and all my family was there, but he didn’t even let me on for a minute. This is why I want to leave Liverpool and join Juventus – Claudio Ranieri is a real gentleman.”

Former Milan great Arrigo Sacchi has slammed Juventus’ imminent signing of Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko, saying that the player has no quality.

The Bianconeri are well known to be in the market for a centre midfielder and they are just days, if not hours away from signing the Malian international.

A fee of between €13-15m is believed to have been agreed between Liverpool and Juventus, but Sacchi does not rate the ability of the ex-Valencia player.

“I know Sissoko well and I watched him a lot in Spain,” said the ex-Milan legend Sacchi, who spent time in La Liga as Coach of Atletico Madrid and as director of football of Real Madrid.

“Sissoko is a plughole, he stops the play, but he cannot play football and has no quality.”

Juventus boss Claudio Ranieri is a huge admirer of Sissoko, from his days as boss of Valencia.

The 22-year-old should become the Tinkerman’s first signing of this month’s transfer window, although the move has not gone down well with a lot of Juventus supporters.

Koeman Forgets Sissoko And Turns To Muntari Valencia coach Ronald Koeman has revealed he would like to bring Portsmouth midfielder Sulley Muntari to the Mestalla.

The Ghanaian international, who is currently away at the African Cup Of Nations, has become the Dutchman's leading January transfer target as Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko now looks almost certain to complete a move to Juventus.

"We seem to have missed out on Mohamed Sissoko but Muntari plays a similar role and he would be excellent," Koeman told The Sun.

Valencia are currently lying seventh in La Liga and are struggling to score goals and Koeman is under pressure to turn things around in the second half of the season.

The Dutchman has already told veteran goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, captain David Albelda and Miguel Angel Angulo that they are surplus to requirements.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is unlikely to be willing to part company with the 23-year-old player who has been impressive his arrival from Udinese in the summer for £7 million.

However, Muntari has already let it be known that he would be interested in a move to one of Europe's bigger clubs.

"I want to end up at one of the biggest clubs - that is every player's dream," Muntari admitted in December.

"Of course I will try my best here and help Portsmouth win many things, and maybe qualify for Europe, but eventually I would like to play for a bigger club."
