I'm not sure if he's the best defensively right now but he surely is close. The guy is nothing short of a rock out there and nobody is going to be able to outmuscle him. But for some reason I doubt Liverpool will let him go... if anything Benitez will relinquish Mascherano or Xabi Alonso in my opinion, but who knows what Rafa thinking. Whether it be Javier or Momo, we shouldn't be resting on our laurels when it comes to signing one of them.

Alonso's passing is too important and Mascherano is a jewel. he is not just a great player but a very smart player. I think Rafa realizes Sissoko makes alot of mistakes and Mascherano does the same job but makes less mistakes. Sissoko is more physical but to win the title you need less mistakes

He can pick between 2 of the best young defensive mids in the world. But either way sissoko is still a great player and with DD as his coach he can learn alot as a midfielder that rafa can't teach him.

I think considering the players we are linked with Sissoko would be a fantastic buy because while frings, almiron etc are good they are not the best in the world and sissoko could very well become the best in his position. and it is not like he is an inexperienced kid. he has been playing top level football for a while and doing it at a high level. he would walk into our team and galvanize it.

Could imagine the attacks we would have through del piero and nedved with all the balls Sissoko manages to steal and intercept in the midfield. they would have so many chances to just charge at the defense and into space once he passes it off to them

If DD can improve his passing and control he would be a devastating player for us.

any central midfield player from Liverpool is fine with me..
Xabi, Sissoko and Mascherano.. probably one of this 3 can be brought from them eventho i dont see the reason for them to sell Mascherano..
So my bet would be Xabi or Sissoko.. both of them would massively add the quality of our central midfield even tho their style of playing is different to each other

Sissoko would be great, he has a brilliant future, he may become available now.
All he needs is another exp DM besides him,
Zanetti-Sissoko would do well for our goal (position 4-6)

To be honest, I would prefer him to Sissoko. He is smarter and more sofisticated, I think he would be perfect as our defensive midfielder. :)
Definetly, Mascherano is a class act, I really thought we were gonna get him while he was rotting in West Ham but Pool screwed us over. We can forget about him now.

I like Sissoko, i just don't think he is ready for Juventus, and more importantly I don't think we are ready to be patient with him. I wouldn't hate the move. Quite frankly the loss of Mascherano was WAY bigger than we ever could imagine.

Sissoko is ready for Juventus. IF he can play in pool, he can play in Juve.

Mascherano is overrated, just ask Corinthians fans. Plus I don't want any player owned by MSI. Did you guys see what happened to West Ham because of them getting Tevez and Mascherano? they were fined 5.5 million pounds and they might get docked points, now imagine what would have happened to us who have a shattered image because of last season. FGIC would have loved deducting us points to ruin our promotion.

I wouldn't let other factors keep me away from picking up a future superstar. Mascherano is the only young player who is a true jewel in central midfield.

I agree with Sissoko being ready for Juve. He has shown he is already top notch defensivly and if paired with another good Central midfielder who has a good passing range and creativity (maby Almiron??) we would have a great center mid.

Mascherano is top notch too and better than sissoko (especially at reading the game and making passes) but he is not an option

hearing your thoughts on more scandal at juve terrifies me. but i doubt we would have done whatever west ham did.

I hope the club get sign Momo asap because I know he can be a great player for us and he has the fight we need to be competitive next season even if we have to play against the likes of a Milan with Ronaldhino. We need his tenacity in our team. nedved and DP are not getting younger and Sissoko's work rate will allow them to shine:pint:

Loaned for 18 months though.. (12 left)

Masch does look the business in a Neil Lennon (Celtic/N.I.) positional sense whereas Sissoko is more of a destroyer and has the legs we need with our older players, including Zanetti..

Somebody compared Sissoko to Davids on the forum and I agree that he has the same defensive outlook if not the quality, yet.

Question is do Liverpool's other DM's have the same engine-room qualities? I don't know about the Brazilian guy but Xabi A and Masch certainly don't so it's hard to see a 'squad/rotation' manager like Benitez turning away a young unique talent in his squad - unless of course Trez or Camo are headed in the opp direction..

and we might do with Deshamp as well :Guily, Saviola, maybe Jerrome Rotten ...
now THAT guy is the very definition of "over-rated"...they said he was the best since Zidane...words like midfield maestro, Zidane's heir, the prodigal son blah blah....

Rothen has a good left foot but thats all. he had a few good games in the CL and he is the next Zeus but that is the press for you

Sissoko on the other hand is severly overlooked. I think with a player like him in our team we have the potential to win any game. He picks the team up. we need more players like that. Nedved does it too but offensively

There is nothing like a bone crunching tackle and counter attack to rally a team

but it also depends what kind of role he is expected to play...if he is to play as pure DMF then i think he will not do such a gr8 job...we will need a very strong back-line which he will support rather than a defense that will support him...he has the potential to be like a Vieira but i dont think he can handle it right now
