Melberg is a CB who is a free agent.

Please only sign this guy as a Boumsong replacement to be 4th choice CB.

He is too prone to careless mistakes.

Juve's Swede dreams

Juventus are being linked with Aston Villa stopper Olof Mellberg and unsettled midfielder Tiago Mendes may take his place in the Premier League.

Despite their successful start to the campaign, the Bianconeri are still looking for another defender to replace the injured Jorge Andrade.

Youngster Domenico Criscito has performed well in the role, but he has also fallen victim to injury niggles and Mellberg is eyeing a move to the peninsula.

“After seven years in Birmingham I would like to move to a big Italian or Spanish side who will be in Europe next year,” the Swedish international recently stated.

Mellberg could arrive in Turin on a free transfer this summer as his contract with Villa expires in June and sporting director Alessio Secco is expected to travel to open talks with him soon.

Meanwhile, there are rumours that West Ham are preparing a bid for Tiago, whose days in Turin seem to be numbered.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Hammers are ready to step in with a £5m offer in January – a fee that Juve are likely to accept.

While Tiago has been linked with Fiorentina, he has already played in England with Chelsea and is yet to settle in Italy.

What I'm concerned about with Olof is he has some kind of a loser's mentality. He gives up way too easily.
And also he's one of those people who's like; "I make my money out of playing football, then I go home and don't care about football". He has even stated that he never watches football games on tv. And he can hardly mention any players outside the Premiership.

Decent defender, but not with the right mentality. It's possible that could change if he was given a chance in a club like Juve. He would then have to give his heart in order to make an impact. I say yes, as a backup he could do more than well.

I havnet seen a lot of Mellberg,so i cant make a fair judgement on him.He looked solid the few times ive seen him, though i dont know if he can do that regularly. He's free however,so it wouldnt hurt to sign him. He'd be a decent backup player.

Or we could sign a good cb worthy of a starting position, so we have competition at cb, as well as quality depth. Being free doesn't change the fact he is average. Were Juve ffs, not a mid-table club.
