I really don't understand how people can bag on US soccer.
Our league is barely a decade old.
Our National team players' total salaries aren't half as much as those of the Italian or French National teams.
Our own population doesn't fully support it much beyond youth level. It's the 4th or 5th sport in terms of popularity.
YET, the national team has done better than Italy, England, Holland and Spain in recent years.
All these are just testaments to the super progress that US soccer has made. I don't see how it deserves anything less than respect or even admiration.

Its in terms of the quality we have had in history, Adu is a big thing. England is expected to churn out the best talents in the world, however all their recent talents (Owen and Beckham) have been grossly overrated. Thats the difference.
And I highly doubt you could name all the teams in the MLS. That is, before you look it up on google.
I already gave you reasoning behind that. England is supposed to put out the best players, however they do not succeed. Rooney is a better player than Adu at this point however Wayne is called the best young striker in the world and is labelled the next Ronaldo. He is not living up to those expectations and he is just not that good. I don't hear anybody calling Adu the next Ronaldo or Pele, only little kids. He is just known as our best talent.

Here's something else to think about, Majed.
The US, if I remember correctly, is currently ranked 10th in the world.
10th.
For a sport that uses maybe, MAYBE, the fourth or fifth highest level of athlete in this country.
How well do you think Italy, France, England, Portugal, or Brazil would do if they used their 4th or 5th highest levels of athletes in football??
Or, in other terms, how well do you think the US would do if they used their top athletes to play football? Scary tought, isn't it.
