I'm just skimming through.

I had no idea the criteria for a foul expressly included spitting

Well of course noone will read all of it, but if someone wants to read about the rules they can look it up here. I think it should be made an essential thread.

Appiah never obeys that rule... the stockings are never fully over the shinguards.

Can someone explain the whole concept behind the offside? What is the purpose of it? Why was it created? What benefits does it have?

I am not saying I am against it, I just want to have a better understanding of it.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is that the offside was created to prevent players from just "loofing" around the goal line.

Exactly. If they didn't have offisde, then the best team would be the one with the tallest forwards

Exactly. I fwe didnt have offside we'd have 22 players just standing a few yards infront of the goal.

No, there are two threads. The OTHER one should be deleted, and this should probably be made a sticky one as it contains all the rules of football.

BTW, did you see the minimal and amximal width of the pitch? It's between 45 and 90 meters, I didnt know there could be such a difference

Yeah I know, that's why i was confused. I thought a mod had deleted the wrong thread, but this one suddenly reappeared out of the blue.

I had no idea about the width of the pitch... imagine a pitch 120m x 90m :stress:
