He was fined £1,000, but no other action was taken. Sounds like he got off pretty lightly.

Also, I don't think Pieterson as Captain would work. It might end up like Flintoff at the Ashes where it didn't work as too much pressure was put on one player.

I think Pietersen would be great as a captain.England have had a history of boring captains.Pitersen would give them that agression that they so lack.I think the Flintoff case was different.He had to bowl,he had to bat,and the fact that he virtually got them the ashes on his own meant that he had too much pressure to deal with.Pietersen only bats,and he doesnt have the same height of expectation attached to him that Flintoff had after the ashes victory.So i think he would be a good choice.Plus there's news about Collingwood's poor show as a captain,and the fact that he hasnt batted well either,so its all going against him now.It would be unfair to fire him so early,but i think whenever that does happens,Pietersen should get the job.He has age on his side too.

You may be right.

I don't think Pieterson will be the next Captain, but he may be the one after that. However, there are a lack of candidates for the job. Also this would only be one day Captain, since Vaughan is still Test Captain.
