Spain has much more talent than the Azzurri (right now). Obviously that means fuckall, but I still think Italy was that terrible that they would have crashed out even if they did attack. It's pretty obvious they would suffer with Perrotta as attacking mid, Di Natale up top, and pretty much weakness in the Milan midfield.

Spain was always going to win this match. They're just better. Better defense, better midfield, better forwards.
As you mentioned talent on paper means shit and its the way you play on the day. I don't the amount of differences between the two teams is that much. I don't think Italy were going to fail, the game was there for the taking and had Italy won we would be sitting here saying how come Aragones took off Torres for Guiza and didn't introduce another attacking player or how Xavi and Iniesta choked as they couldn't create anything.

The players that stepped up in the France game couldn't do that again and from the second half it was clear that they wanted to take it to extra time or penalties. De Rossi is the main player who underperformed and i dont think he is overrated as he is as good as any mid in the spain team.

Donadoni's biggest mistake is that he didn't give himself options from his initial selections to his tactics and plans. Always playing with Toni upfront with the long balls to him without even a counter attack plan. Most of the time you would see cassano trying to dribble three players with only Toni in the box and no support whatsoever from the midfield. That went on for long periods and if Italy wanted to win the game in 90mins they could at least introduce another attacking player in the midfield and actually play football instead of that rubbish we saw last night.

I just hope that the loss doesn't have an effect on any of the Juve players ( it shouldn't as they played well, including Alex)

But the team, as a whole, is not world class in my opinion.

Not bad. You know if Emerson Boyce played?
Not sure bro. I watched the Euro shit instead. I think ESPN will re-show it again on one of their reject channels.

Italy really really need to find a top class goal poacher for the 2010 finals. The central defence would be in good hands with a Chiellini-Gamberini pairing, but a finisher upfront is no where in sight.
well the only ones we have is hoping gilardino finds back his parma form & boriello proving he is no 1 season wonder. personally i do not know of any other strikers in italy other then balotelli.
or amauri.

I can tell, I edited two of your posts to make them easier to read and understand, no worries though. Just trying to make it easier on the rest of us.

Good job thought with Romance and Germanic, two hard ones to combine.

I disagree. I think Italy has superb quality in every single department, it was the Donadoni's ingenuic tactics that really fucked it up for the players. Anyone who watches Italian football would recognize how good Italy's players are. If ypu're going to play with 3, almost 4 dfeensive midfielders, you aren't exactly going to see the most free-flowing attacking football from Italy. I think Donadoni took Italy right back to the dreadful Trapatoni days.

What's funny is, at the end of the day, the one or two chances Italy got during the whole game actually posed more of a threat than any Spanish chances. I think it's about time Italy injects it's squad with youth talent.

I think Luca Toni was fucking horrible all tournament. I don't know what's happened to him, the Bundesliga must have fucked him up badly.

On a good note, Chiellini has more or less confirmed himself as the best Italian CB after Cannavaro. No one in this tournament, possibly the world, was able to neutralize Villa and Torres the way Chiellini did. I never thought defending would be fun to watch before I saw him play. I hope he continues this way, we might just be witnessing a legend in the making.

Anyway, with Italy out I hope Russia win the tournment. After that colossal performance against the Dutch, they surely deserve it.
