For starters,Pirlo shouldnt be dropped. And certainly not for Ambrosini. If Donadoni was going for a very attack minded formation, then perhaps you'd understand 3 DMs,but this is not right. The France defence will be out of sorts after the 4-1 drubbing, and the right way to do would have to play as many creative/attacking players as possible.Pirlo despite his poor form,is a world class player and he is very capable of rising to the occasion. He isnt someone who's only good for his club. He's performed for the NT too,and done it exceptionally. He should play against France. But even if Donadoni is hellbent on dropping him,the one to take his place should be Aquilani and not Ambrosini. This is a bad move.

A typical Donadoni move.

He better make it work, because if Italy is out on tuesday,he is fired on wednesday.
I don't care how you do it Don,just take Italy to the 1/4 finals.

Why do people keep saying Pirlo should not be dropped? Just what exactly has he done in the last 2 matches to suggest he is vital? He was quite shit (like the rest of the team), and it is obvious he is out of form. Let Aquilani get a chance instead.

Pirlo is simply too important a player for Italy to be dropped.Bad form or not,he's a very vital player. On song he's one of most creative players in the world, and Italy need him for a big game.Italy need to score. They cant play for a 0-0 draw.Pirlo, despite his poor form,is capable of turning it around in a big game.Taking a gamble on someone who could offer you unlimited creativty if he hits form is better than taking a gamble on players like Ambrosini and Gattuso..both of whom btw, have been poor.Donadoni should probably start both Aquilani and Pirlo, with De Rossi.

Pirlo even in this colourless form is still the better midfielder than the others Don put in. He should be included. I don't think it's so much of a player problem though, it's more of Don not knowing how to utilize them and his tactics obviously do not gel well with the team.

but he's been shit for the past 2 games, and he's been shit for the past season as well.

Italy need him to score? Like they scored many goals vs Holland and Romania because of his creativity? he's quite terrible, and his passing is no longer the click that the team needed, and I doubt with the lw confidence he, his team and his coach is in he is suddenly going to turn his game around. De Rossi, who was a dmf did more solid creative work than Pirlo in the last match. I agree with you that neither Ambro or the dog should play. Aquilani should be one, and the other should have been the dropped Montolivo.

But you have to admit that the best decision ATM is to play Aquilani-De Rossi-Pirlo in midfield, as Gattuso and Ambrosini played even worse than Pirlo.

Camo----Aquilani/Perrotta

----------Cassano--------
-----DP--Toni/Quaglalalalala
