7 positions?

Thats 5 positions. But this still looks good.Italy need Perrotta in there. His workrate is second to none.He was one of their unsung hero's at the finals two years ago,and he can definatley still do a great job for Italy. Why Donadoni didnt start him in the last game is baffling..but hey, this is Donadoni.
It's 7 positions actually

Zambrotta from LB to RB
Panucci from RB to CB
Chiellini replacing Materazzi
Grosso replacing Zambrotta as LB
De Rossi replacing Gattuso
Perrotta replacing Ambrosini
Del Piero replacing Di Natale

There, you're wrong again.
As usual.

It's tragic, yeah. But don't worry, salman, one day your time will come :D

Donadoni is showing a lot of humility changing half the team. Do you remember Trap and how incredibly stubborn he was in the face of adversity? Maybe this is the way to go, hire younger coaches to the national team who aren't afraid of admitting their mistakes. Donadoni may have said just after the loss that they weren't that bad as he obviously didn't want to demoralize the team, but by making these sweeping changes he's showing that he's not blinded by insisting on his ready made plan.

Trappatoni did make changes in his team at Euro 2004.I remember Italy having a not so great opening game against Denmark at Euro 2004,where all 3 of Pirlo,Gattuso and Cassano were left on the bench, and the press wasnt all that happy about it.All 3 of them started the next game against Sweden..though Totti's suspension obviously had a role to play in Pirlo inclusion too.

WC 2002 was a different story though.

I think the chances of me being wrong here arent high:D

Yes. Moving Zambrotta to the right and Panucci to the center is also considered a change of position

The main problem in the Holland match was......italy players just dont run . Holland were youthfull, speedy and wide.. they just need to concede corners or freekicks on their own half to lauch counter attacks from the rebound.

the only players who have ligter legs among italians were di natale and zambrotta. and the second half grosso. It was understandable to start with di natale over del piero againts fast, open and energetic opponents.

Del piero or cassano is much suitable against chess game type of teams. France or Chech or Germany. not soo much against Portugal, Holland or Spain.

Things will be much difficult if they concede the first goal. Italians not a really good as a figting back team. This may have to do with their lay-back-been-here done-that age.

In Italy press is talking of a SMS sent by a world champion to another that has stayed home saying " we are afraid, here donadoni treat us as kids"

At the same time I have seen in tv one of the reasons Alex will be captain is Donadoni is angry with Buffon saying Italy´s game on monday was the worst in 20 years.

By the way Pirlo has said Donadoni made a bad choise leaving De Rossi on the bench .....

Some are telling some players ( for sure world champions) have taken control of the team..

Let s see what happen tomorrow

In any case we will have fun with all the gossip and " tragedy" behind - everything very italian - :)

hope for another 0-0 draw with romania
I'm starting to question myself what your problem is?
If you don't support Juve and don't support Italy than this might not be the right place for you. We don't care if you hope that Italy draws or loses etc. You've started to annoy me since you've repeated like a thousand times that Alonso sucks.

Gazzetta says Del Piero and Cassano will play together. :xfinger:
