that first goal apparently wasn't offside according to Uefa rules
a player who is out of the playing field is still considered active, voluntary or not
in most countries he would be off as he was down after a Buffon charge but Uefa considers him still part of the play
sad but that is the way it is
the goal was valid

I think it just goes to show Italy is in need of a serious revamp after the euros. Start bringing in players like
montolivo who is more hungry than pirlo who is as enthusiastic about the eiros as a wet fish.
chiellini for the mattress, enough said.
Gattuso has lost the fire and the passion, without that he is nothing. Maybe replace him with donadel or change our tactics and make use of aquilani.
We need an exititing playmaker and giovinco is our man for the job IMO.

The midfield was the worst area last night, I often think of them as the first form of our defense and we let them straight through the middle if the pitch every single time hence why I'm calling to changes there.
This should be the team for the world cup qualifiers:
--------------Buffon--------------
Zambro---canna--chiellini--grosso
----aquilani--de rossi--monolivo--
---------------giovinco-------------
------------toni--------del piero---
yes after these Euro's some players need to be cut off, but Pirlo is still world class, Gattuso has lost the passion? your talking rubbish.. Giovinco has ALOT of potential but he hasnt proved himself on the big stage yet. He needs to prove himself at Juve first then get a shot at the Nazionale.. Donadel just isnt good enough IMO.

mate I'm from Calabria too well almost policoro is right on the border but we are passionate there too, you can tell with age gattuso has calmed down, not good he also really only now gets angry with the referee and moans at him like a grumpy old man. The gattuso of old would have squared firmly up to a show boater and arrogant player like snidijer just because he was sore about loosing.
And yes pirlo is still class but look at his form, its awful.
Oh and before I forget donadel, would you have guessed that gattuso who used to be a horrible player make it into la nationale? Well there is my point

Form is temporary, class is permament. Pirlo/Gattuso are coming off a rather disappointing season with Milan but everybody knows what they are capable of. Changing the system will just cause further confusion.
You want to instantly throw Donadel, Montolivo, Giovinco and whoever else into the team for the qualifiers? that could end in disaster as they could end up being worse than what we currently have. Players need to prove they are worthy, then gradually be integrated into the team. Donadel hasnt proved to me that he is worthy of wearing the Azzurri jersey. There is my point.

you say form is temporary class is permanent, yet you completely miss the issue of age, pirlo and gattuso are not at the same level as legends like DP and Maldini who have always retained their class. I'm starting to think stevie G calling gattuso a pussy cat is justified, where has the warrior inside him gone?
secondly I'm not saying this team should not just be picked like that straight away, too many changes for anyone's liking. I'm saying blood them in over the next 2 years. maybe you just didn't understand what I meant, but I'm not stupid and would'nt dream of making such changes all at once
two years is enough time for giovinco to grow as a player, then he can become part of the team.
Gattuso only merited a shirt when he started at AC Milan, donadel still has time on his side for now

Donadoni is an idiot, we all know that. I see no point in bashing an idiot for his actions since you would expect such a performance from an idiot. Being fair however, it wasn't entirely his fault. Italy were dead in the first half and almost immediately gave up after that first goal. The players lacked character and they lacked a player that was willing to step up and take some responsibilty.

Di Natale played well enough, he was actually one of the better players of the night from the Italians. Toni was horrible and Camo was invisible. Don't get me started on the defense. Barzagli and Materazzi were fucking disastrous. Panucci is an old fuck that can barely move yet he plays as a fullback. Aquilani should start instead of Gatusso, Ambrosini was fine but I would prefer De Rossi.

Here's what i would go with and I think would be most logical after the performance we saw last night.

-------------------------------Buffon------------------------
Zambrotta--------Panucci------Chiellini---------Grosso
-----------De Rossi/Gatusso----------Pirlo-------------Aquilani-----
-------------Cassano/Camo-------------Toni----------Del piero--------

I would start Chiellini and Panucci instead of Chiellini Gamberini because we need some experience at the back and Panucci can offer more than Gamberini in thar field.

In midfield, we need creativity, youth, and liveliness. De Rossi and Aquilani at the moment can offer much more than Rino and Ambro. At least one of them should start.

In attack, I simply wouldn't get rid of Camo because he just the kind of player that can turn a game around for you at any second. I would not mind Cassano however, but I would prefer Cassano coming in as a sub for now. I hope Toni puts up a better game against Romania.

There are lots of negatives to be taken from this game, however, there are still some positives we can be optimistic about.

1- France and Romania drawing gave us a little room for error. If France had won that game, it would have defintely knocked us out of the Euros.

2- Donadoni should know by know that you don't start a 36 year old mummy instead of Grosso. He also know knows that you don't pair up Materazzi with Barzagli, If Materazzi ever played well with Italy it was because of Cannavaro.

3- we are probably going to see a more attacking formation now since Italy are in dire need for a win.

no one why I didn't even say that anyone should, you know its possible for good players to co-exist. They are all different kinds of players that offer different options
your response was stupid and naive.

oh really you don't think it is naive in serie A to play with VdV,Trez, Giovinco, Nedved, Camo, DP, Amauri, Iaquinta?
And now you will say you wouldn't play them at once
ok well let's suppose we play 4-4-2
you think Ranieri will ever play
Nedved,VdV, Momo, Camo in midfield?
dream on, he doesn't have the balls for this
besides you said VdV on the left
that would be in Nedved's or Giovinco's place
and you call me stupid and naive?
