I have no words to describe this loss, I am extremely sad.

Were out arent we? :S
Holland 3
Romania 1
France 1
Italy 0

If Italy beat Romania and Holland draw or beat France we'll be second. It is vital that Italy win on Friday and that France don't

Zambrotta - Gamberini - Chiellini - Grosso
Camoranesi - Pirlo - Ambrosini/De Rossi
Di Natale/Cassano - Toni - Del Piero

Now that's a team.
Word.

Materazzi and barza shoud be banned from playing with the nt from now on.

Next game cassano and DP and gross should be starters or were going to wave goodbye to austria and swiss....

Sorry Azzurri fans, but Italy was completely owned in every single department this evening, even defensively. The Netherlands could have scored about 6 goals past Buffon tonight. Donadoni has the wrong players out there, including Barzagli and Ambrosini, players that have no business in the side. All the players that started, minus Buffon, Toni, Camoranesi and Di Natale, had terrible seasons at their clubs. You can't use an entire midfield from the same club that had such a poor season and expect to win.

And don't blame Chiellini or Cannavaro's absence for this failure. You were poor everywhere on the pitch tonight, and the Dutch would have won even with Fabio in there. Don't be shortsighted like that. You have much more problems, especially a midfield that doesn't work whatsoever.

This is the first time in HISTORY that Italia has lost by such a deficit. Could this be the worst Azzurri side in any competition in history? Time will tell.

What should be done is this:

Buffon

Zambrotta - Gamberini - Chiellini - Grosso

De Rossi - Pirlo - Aquilani

Camoranesi - Toni - Del Piero

This way, you get rid of that Milan midfield which is the bane of your existence.

PS - To those who have rated Andrea Barzagli and think he's anything above just an average, Podunk defender, you need to WAKE UP and watch more football. He is shite, thank GOD we didn't get him, and he has no business in this Azzurri team. Thankfully, he just transfered to a side that suits his capabilities.

I don't know whats worst. Preferring a defender who in a team which conceded the 3.rd most goals in the Italian championship. Or playing with a midfield which only managed to qualify for UEFA cup...

I think you're being a bit harsh on Toni and Zambrotta but as for the rest, spot on.
Toni didn't get much service and Zambrotta helped a lot in attack

I agree that Ambrosini was really impressive. He totally surprised me.

Camoranesi was terrible, did he complete even one pass? It's a wonder that he only got subbed in the last 15 minutes

All three subs had a positive impact on the game, but that begs the question: why weren't they started? If Italy played the formation they were playing in the 2nd half from the start, they probabably would've done better.

I can't believe I got up at two in the morning for this.

I would agree with this... save for making sure Cassano is at the ready for some creative subbing. I was disappointed in how he finished the match, but the play changed when he came on.

Toni had chances, he messed them all up. Zambrotta is a defender, he should be defending before attacking. What good is it to help in the attack if you don't score any goals?
